I have to admit it’s very satisfying to watch a train chuffing around the layout like this! Thanks for watching 😃

Thanks Ben! Yeah it’s always nice to get the trains out and just run them. Hopefully I’ll do more of these once the layout is finished! Thanks for watching 😃

Love the running session, having sound on the layout brings it more to life and gives it an atmosphere of a working railway 😀

Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it. It does make a huge difference. I never thought I would really get into DCC Sound but now that I have it's making me want to convert a few more locos! Thanks for watching 😃

If you wanted to add another steam locomotive to the roster, you could try a Soundtraxx econami UK decoder. I put one in my B12 and it sounds excellent, and it isn't too expensive either.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yes I’ve heard good things about the Soundtraxx UK decoders! I really must try one out sometime. Thanks for watching 😃

I really love that sound of the engines, it’s music to my ears (please release this on Spotify lol). It really makes me want to convert some of my stuff to dcc, great video; Really brightened my dreary West Midlands Saturday!

I have to admit I used analogue for years and thought I always would. Then I slowly got into DCC and gradually sound locos too 😂 It does add another layer of atmosphere to a layout in my opinion and I definitely think I'll be adding more sound decoders to my locos in the future. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍

Lovely audio running session, which sound chips did you use for the school class? The j27 must have been tight inside to fit all the parts especially the speaker. They look and sound great, extra dimension to the model railway. Best Marc
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marc, the Schools class is a TTS chip for the A3 - not bad for such a cheap decoder. If you want more info on the J72 check out my video from last week where I fitted the sound and a stay alive too, it’s not as tight as you might think! Thanks for watching 😃

Your making me so jealous that I went with a standard dc j72 that I just put a normal decoder in… Do you know if you can still get the sound decoder you used for yours? Also, on a note of things for adding to the layout, I think you should get a Bachmann or Hornby 08 since they are one of the more common sights on heritage railways, unless of course you don’t like the prototype in which case it might not be a good purchase. I have heard good things about both the Bachmann and Hornby ones. From what I gather the Bachmann runs slightly better for its purpose since it’s geared to run at really slow speed, and the Hornby is slightly better detailed. For me though, the big thing is the price since the Bachmann is over £40 cheaper. Great video by the way!
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Yes the decoder is from YouChoos and they'll be more than happy to put a J72 project onto any sound decoder for you. I'd recommend adding a stay alive for the best results too - I've actually done a whole video on that and adding sound in the past: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHrQh2x4mJ6EaaM I'd definitely like to get an 08 at some point for the layout. I'm really trying to focus on finishing the layout rather than buying more locos at the moment though. Thanks for watching 😃

what controller do you use? DCC is a whole new thing to me. thank you very much
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I use the Roco Z21. Quite an expensive piece of kit as far as DCC controllers go but it has all the bells and whistles to allow me to expand in the future. I must do a proper video on it in the future. Thanks for watching 😃

Are you going to keep using the tension lock couplings, or are you going to change to kds?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
No plans to change to kadee couplings at the moment but I am lightly investigating close couplings for the coach rakes. I don't mind the tension locks too much but I have some plans to make them more discreet in the future so stay tuned. Thanks for watching 😃
