Hello Arlo, that is a magnificent rising desk of which I saw similar when last in Germany. At 60 I'm very fit and work in the emergency services, so wouldn't require such a desk. Instead I have a valuable antique mahogany desk and a lovely chair of similar antiquity. Your desk is magnificent and would make a tidy freak weep with joy! 😃 I'm new to your channel and feel you made an enormous amount of effort filming and editing really excellent videos, so many kudos to you. My very best wishes, Wendi 🌻

Hi Wendi, yes it is a really fantastic bit of kit, this desk. More useful for people who work at their desk, though, than emergency workers!! Thanks for kind comments about my channel 😃. Very kind and much appreciated.

As usual, great review. Got a standing desk 2 or so months ago. Definitely hurts your heels standing for a long time. But the main issue that is solved for me, was getting tired sitting down. Can't tell you how many times sitting down made me want to fall asleep.. Standing up solves that issue quickly. Which means, when mixing it up, I can focus on work.. and not the bed thats next to it.

Thank you! And that's a great point. Hadn't thought of that. Very hard to fall asleep standing up. That could be very useful after a good lunch!

Out-STANDING, Sir! Actually, to be honest, I prefer more trad desks (I agree with Red Shutter) and my dog would not appreciate the roof of his home to pogo, even if I were not playing punk. I do like the idea of a healthy sit / stand desk - one could sit to work for a while, then raise the desk to make a handy bar for a liquid lunch, then repeat in afternoon/evening. So I am a tad dissappointed you did not show a beer barrel container and how to attach the hand-pump to desk-top. I loved the take-off and lip-sync, plus the crazy stool-surfing and I am very sorry you paid dearly for your art - hope you are better soon, Arlo. Thank you, once again, for the most entertaining and interesting take on gadgets - you are too big for just your village now! Cheers, Arlo.

Thanks Seb. Must admit, until this desk I would have agreed with you about preferring something traditional. But I'm converted. It feels a bit like moving from an old castle to a new build house. Suddenly you realise what a joy it is to be warm, and for the roof not to leak, and the windows to open properly. Not that I've ever lived in a castle myself. I think you are also right in saying I am now too big for my village, but perhaps not the way you meant it! 😂

Excellent review, Sir! Would there be room for a power strip if you had a few bulky plug packs to try and hide? My LG monitor has a huge power pack of its own.

Thank you. Not quite sure I understand what you mean, and actually it would be difficult to say without knowing the dimensions of the power strip you're talking about.

You made no mention of how the control system works and if there are any Presets
@arlo.guthrie
@arlo.guthrie 2 жыл бұрын
Apologies - there's an up button and a down button on the right, and if you want, a safety button you have to press simultaneously on the left (you can deactivate this). No presets, but you can limit the range of movement (ie to stop it lowering onto your filing cabinet)
@lewiskelly14
@lewiskelly14 2 жыл бұрын
@@arlo.guthrie Thanks! Other desks have options for presets, like choosing 1 for sitting and 2 for standing, so it's a bit disappointing that this desk seems to do well in everything else except the sockets being too close, but lacks any presets.
@arlo.guthrie
@arlo.guthrie 2 жыл бұрын
@@lewiskelly14 Perhaps not as much of a problem as you might think. I'll try to explain. Presets have two benefits: a) Returns the desk height to a known position. b) Does so with one press, as opposed to holding your finger on the button. In my case (I am 5ft 11), the top position of the desk is the correct work height when standing. So that is a preset! If I want, I can limit how low the desk will go to be my normal seated position, so that is the other preset. That means that the only difference is that I have to keep my finger on the button when I want to raise or lower it. That takes about nine seconds when I'm not doing anything else anyway (the desk is moving!). So it is really no big deal for me, either way. The sockets are just frustrating because they could have moved them apart a little bit. But there were enough for me, and once set up and cables hidden, I don't change whats plugged in there. Hasn't been a problem for me at all. I think (and its subjective, I know), that the lovely design, hidden sockets and very hard wearing surface are more important.

Yes, but as I said in the film, when you're spending 8/9 hours a day at your desk, you certainly get value for money.
