Explanation (SPOILER) so this guy had been living with his brother and his parents but it turned out that his so called family werent actaully his family, all along he had beem hypnotised into thinking he was living his normal everyday life with his family (im not going to say why he was hypnotised because its quite complicated but in short, he was hypnotised so he could admit to a crime he committed) anyways, as a part of the hypnosis he believed that he was 21 years old because that was the age at which he committed the crime and his fake family made sure to make him think he was a 21 year old living in 1997. but when he started getting susicious of the family he ran away and went to the police station which is this scene. sorry if this was confusing, i left some pieces out of this explanation because this movie is a psychological thriller and i dont think i can explain it all in words. i highly recommend it, its really good but very underrated. (edit: i forgot to mention the name, it's called "forgotten" and it's on netflix)

the entire movie, he’s portrayed as 21, we think he’s 21 and so does he, so once it’s revealed that he’s not 21 and it’s actually 2017 and not 1997, he ages up to 41. it’s apart of the plot and is done so this twist isn’t suspected earlier in the movie cause it’d be weird if we thought he was 21 but he looked 41.

SPOILER ALERT: The villain in all of this is the evil doctor father, he started it all...the brother is understandably mad and just wanted to avenge his family that died in the hands of the main protagonist. Yes he had a hard life too, but that doesnt change the fact that he killed people intentionally or not. The brother was also traumatized and was not aware of what his piece shit of a father originally planned to happen. Both the main guy and the brother were victims of the doctor, the mom and sister were collateral damage.
