The original Disney movies don't even remotely follow the originals from Hans Christian Andersen. Feminism was once good. Third wave feminism has turned into toxic feminism that is about putting men down to prop women up.

With all the respect I think the way she sees Cinderella is very plain. yes, you could see her as the opposite of what modern women should be but you could also take out the message that despite having to go through hell, and being humiliated and mistreated she kept having a good heart, she kept being a kind girl and at the end it paid off, that's what I would like my hypothetical daughter to take out of it, also come on! no matter how hard you try to change it we all hold on to that Prince, we all want a fairytale and that doesn't mean giving up our professional dream. To close, Brave started as promising movie and 20 minutes in turned into this super childish film, I didn't like it, and to be honest I don't relate to Merida. I'm a top law student, bilingual, major in health sciences and feel much closer to Belle or Elsa. I am a modern woman that still wants a Prince and loves fairytales.
@g88073 жыл бұрын
same! I love fairytales too. I do relate to Belle and Elsa also. I love Cinderella for her kindness. Now all they want is modern princesses to not have a love interest and be all tough. Why can't you have both? Everyone is different. I never liked how they talk about Cinderella and Snow White being all weak-they are not weak-and its ok people dont like them.

I mean i see your point but what does being a top class human have to do with this?
@felina19866 жыл бұрын
Her argument is flawed... Aladdin's (a man) end goal was to get married to Jasmine. The whole catalyst behind his wishes with the genie was to impress her. Pocahontas' end goal wasn't to marry John Smith. It was to save her people. Esmerelda's end goal wasn't to marry the captain, she wanted to help her people. These are just a few examples. I can't understand why so many people try to make out things and situations bigger than they actually are :/

I see many comments here that say that her reason for becoming a feminist wasn't valid - it is. She experienced things like that her whole life, and looking at her age, she was still a child in the era where women were just starting to have some sort of respect from authority figures (mainly white, old men). Following that, people's ideas on girls taking cartoons/Disney Princesses too seriously... a child is impressionable, and if she is made to think that all there is in life is to grow up and become a housewife, that is how she will think. Look at the years before us - the entire 20s era thought it was okay to hit your wife and girls were supposed to learn how to sew in school to be a good person in society. They weren't taught how to fix things such as cars, or how to balance a checkbook, because back then, there was no need; women were housewives, not bankers or politicians. And to everyone saying that she is portraying all men in such a way, she is not. The era she grew up in, YES, most men were this way! Nowadays, this isn't always the case, but there are more than a handful of misogynists out there! (And if I hear one more word on "oh whoa is me, I have a misandrist on my hands, I'm going to scream.

One -- didn't get the first quote from anyone but the people I've grown up with, i.e. my grandparents, great grandparents, etc. Secondly, wasn't talking about Islamists. Nothing about this was about religion or race, so don't come pulling that bullshit in here. Look at who our fucking president is, a HUGE misogynist with a following. Keep thinking I'm a misandrist, whether I am or not, it doesn't really effect me, since you're a troll on the internet who got butthurt over something a 17 year old said on a KZbin video a year ago. Yeah. Let that sink in, how petty that sounds.

nocity11 Re. "end of my rant, where I really could give less of a shit if you think I'm a misandrist" - That was my point. Re. "Look at who our fucking president is, a HUGE misogynist with a following" - Bullshit. You have no evidence whatsoever to support the false claim that Trump is a misogynist. Just as one example, Trump has not repealed selective service, so it appears he would be much more of a gynocentric misandrist than a misogynist.

Whatever you reply to this with, I don't care anymore to fight a dumbass who can't come up with an actual constructive argument.

Lillith Nicole Lillith, how the hell does feminism fix sexism when it is sexist in and of itself? Feminism wants to teach men not to rape. That is sexist in the same way teaching black people not to steal is racist. Feminism in and of itself is compromised of idiots. Anytime a male brings up real male issues, not the bullshit sexism or gender roles, they are told to shut up simply because they have a penis. Feminism does not want to help men with anything. Feminism has stated that they are for equality for all, but I have yet to see anything that would help anything but women.

Feminism was and stills a good thing in animation cinema because he pushes the characters in a movie conflict, and make it entertaining to watch. If you lost the entertainment first, you made totally biased movies like Frozen was, totally losing the sister conflict to pandering on romance hate, for whatever reasons of weak script skills and merchandising CEO sit on you turntable.

Lillith I agree, that is a possibility but not a probability, based on what and how the said :) I don't remember why I mentioned the looks back then but the form in most cases reflects the content, that's why people "judge the book by its cover". There is fundamental truth about that. And also that is the reason people try to fake their looks to seem something they are not (happy, healthy, young, rich, smart, etc). I guess being as ignorant as I am I totally could have ignored the looks :D Stuff she says is pretty much enough to understand it. PS I love your name, I hope it is a real one. I heard it is popular in (allegedly)feminist movement to commemorate the mystical Lilith, THE human before Adam and Eve, thus representing the hardcore creation of god, as opposed to economy class humans, soft Adam and Eve :D

Question I have always had is why do young women value Disney SOOOOO much more than young Men? Even my current Girlfriend is obsessed with going back and watching Disney movies and she is in no way a Feminist by any stretch of the imagination. Personally I always preferred the fairy tales of the Brother's Grimm and the dark fantasy of the 80s where there was real consequences and they taught real morals and responsibilities. Young women seem to avoid these like the plague then fall back on things like "Oh I do so much work because I cleaned my room!" Taking self ownership is not something that comes from messages in movies young people imitate it's by deeply understanding yourself.

When we live in a world where a woman can hit a man and society just laugh it off and think he deserved it as they assume he cheated on her, yet if the guy tries to protect himself and he ends up ganged up by every thirsty white knight BETA there to the point they nearly kill him or get him arrested when she started it, yes we will always go to it as there is zero equality there. Same applies for dating, women should pay for their own meals and drinks. They work now.
