Thnx Chad! Mech-antics don’t get enough glory for all they go through(Amen) The fella ya purchaced your project knew that he wanted no part of all the wrenching needed to get all the big bucks out of this ride. It’s refreshing to see your drive to get the lack-luster part of the project handled.👍👍
@dayslife
@dayslife 24 күн бұрын
there is a square shaft attached to the handle , the shaft extends into the sheet metal bracing to secure it in place, and this is where the actual spring loaded latch piece is slipped onto the shaft. This latch piece has a square hole in the center, turning the handle the shaft twist the latch pulling it up to release the trunk. Over time the square shaft gets rounded off on its corners and slips off the latch piece, then of course doesn’t move it to release the latch. Push closed on the trunk while at the same time pull out on the handle in order to get more of the more square part of the shaft to bite better on the latch piece.

With the spare tire off the vehicle, it would give you the perfect chance to fix the trunk lid. The paint is chipped off and that's not considered patina it's called damage. It would be a shame to leave it the way it is with the rest of the car looking as good as it does. Just my opinion of course. Great job wrenching Jolene, show Chad how it's done LOL

Chad and Jolene if you dont know how to do something KZbin it. 9 times out of 10 there is a video on KZbin that will show you how to. Take some time out of your day and look it up and watch the video or videos. Guarantee there is a video how to take the gas tank out and how to open that compartment that you were trying to open. The bumpers on the volvo turned out nice. Nice to see Jolene on camera and doing a little wrenching. I would buy another tank if you cant repair this one. It looks to bad but go for it. You can only try. And if you dont try then you may not know. But you can buy a tank for around 3 hundred US. So around 5 to 6 Canadian. Which isnt bad

Chad, gas lines from the carburetor to fuel tank also need deep cleaning. You may or may not need to pull all fuel lines. It depends on how bad they are. I own 50 year old car, and the lines were completely clogged. To clean or take out both returns and in lines, it was teal pain. Good luck both!!

Where there is a will, there is a way. No better way then on job training. Just a tip. With as many cars that you have and no more then they get drivin. It would be beneficial to run Ethanol free gasoline. Fill the tanks full and they should be good to set. When Ethanol sets the gas turns to a gel. With the tanks full of Ethanol free gas the gas will not gather moisture inside the tank.Good job Jolene and Chad. You make a good team.
