I hear you. Different story but same sentiment my dad gave me an authentic samurai katana when I got married that he had sent home from the Philippines during WW2. I sold it within a few months for $600 to make a car payment and buy a kitchen table. Biggest regret of my life from back in '88. A few years ago I got within 1 person who knew the man who bought it and it was still his prized possession as a sword collector. Just couldn't find him. I would have loved to get a photo of it.

Travis, I used to sell tools to all the shops and one of my Union 76 stations burned to the ground because of one of those old drop lights. They had it hanging from a cord reel and one day they were using it over an engine bay and it dropped and broke the bulb. The spark from the bulb lit off some flammable liquid, gas or oil. That's why most shops stopped using incandescent droplights and shifted to flourescent/LED lights. Be very careful with that light. There's a reason they are in antique shops.
@theetravisb3 ай бұрын
Interesting thanks for the tip

I used one of those lights a lot back in the 70's-80's. Still have it. As I remember you could buy a heavy duty bulb that had a coating on it to resist bumping around and breaking.

Those engines were babbit bearing engines you have an OEM 1948 the generators and voltage regulators were ticklish on those chevys , get the regulator set to high and the generator would get overheated and throw the solider out of the armature, Don't over rev the old girl or she will lose a rod bearing You will have a real gem if you treat her right

Sanded it down, painted it metallic red and stuck a pretty aggressive 327 with a single plane edellbrock manifold and a holley 750 and e/t drag radials on a posi 12 bolt with 3/73 gears. Runs consistent 11:20's in the 1/4 mile with a turbo 350 with a shift kit. currently building a blown 454 4 bolt main for it.

Speaking of old tools. I changed a wheel on my wife's car on Friday. I always use an old wheel cross for this. It was so dirty that I once cleaned it with steel wool. Surprisingly there were 2 stamps on it one with a small imperial eagle WaA 735 ( Waffenamt Kfz Opel Blitz part ) then the stamp JzB which means manufacturer was = Carl Mesenhöller, Werkzeugfabrik, Remscheid-Hasten, Volkshaus 6, Germany The year of manufacture was March 3,43, 1943. You can see how long tools last if you take care of them. Greetings from Germany and I like to see u keep making such beautiful videos.

Love your channel. My current driver is a 49 gmc 150 that looked very close to yours when i drug it from a 2nd story of a old garage. I put a stock gm 5.3 LS in it with ENTIRE stock driveline from trans back. 3 speed on the column. I put a aluminum rad in it and even AC. Still starts on the foot stomp starter, kept enclosed driveline for a long time but later swapped to open drive with a 3 speed with the borg warner electric overdrive. Dropping a LS in it with minimal parts wasn’t bad at all. Made motor mounts, bent up shift linkage around v8 cylinder head, hooked up all the factory mechanical gauges. Stock tank feeds a frame mounted fuel pump and works great. Its got radials on it and i drive that thing everywhere. It will drive down highway at 75 mph with 1 finger on the wheel all day and is happy to cruise anywhere you point it. Ice cold AC and nice warm updated heater core in stock box. Great trucks.

Travis, something I learned a long time ago, and I have no idea of it's veracity, when a radiator sits for a long time and completely dries out, the scale inside of it will chip off and clog the tubes. So, it's a smart thing to do to fill it up and give it a real good flush out. When you take a radiator off, if it has fluid in it, store it that way. Full up is the best way to keep it moist inside. Ask your Dad and see if he has heard that. I'd be curious. Also, you never did tell us how you made the fan blade fit. What did you end up doing?
