Alcoholism is pretty cut and dry; since there is a clear physical source and very little way to misinterpret it. Excessive alcohol intake = alcoholism, case closed. Psychological/psychogenic disorders however are much more broad and harder to identify, a person who bites their nails could be heavily traumatized or could just be bored lol. Have whatever headcanons you want about Shigaraki, just don't go off spouting about it like it's fact. Until Hirkoshiki says what Shigaraki's voice change was for, it could be for any reason.

I think they changed it because before this moment, in the manga, Shigaraki's lines were pretty much distorted and that's why they gave him sort of a raspy voice in the dub. And after his awakening the distorted lines of his in the manga disappeared, and it became very clear. @SleepyWolf I liked all of those things you mentioned as they were in the anime. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree then, because I seriously don’t think the manga was much better for this fight. The only difference is that he loses some fingers? Do you really think that’s enough to make the episode trend? lol. It’s been a while since I’ve read MVA but I honestly might have preferred the anime version thanks to the good animation, how the hair looks, the music, and the laughing for both the sub and dub. Seriously though, this is without a doubt the best Shigaraki has looked in the entire anime (the white hair)

@@micahgould1278 Because it’s basically the actors default voice. Shigaraki’s is a bit more raspier and slightly lighter than Sanji’s dub voice - which is probably his deepest voice. Trunks is a lot more lighter, sounding more like a teenager.
