Remember a few episodes back that Edwina told Daphne something about Anthony's temper but described it in a good light (i forgot the exact sentence,sorry) and Daphne laughed because she knows that isn't true. Anthony is just showing Edwina what needs to be seen by her in order for the match to work. Unlike for Kate, she sees Anthony for who he truly is.

I think Anthony was always honest with her, but it's normal she create expectations since she doesn't know how love works. But Kate was never honest, so when she says Anthony would never provide the love she expected her whole life, she might have thought it was simply because Kate hated him. In my opinion Edwina has not a lot of reasons to be mad at Anthony, but with Kate her feelings are valid. She omitted things twice. people just expect her to be happy for them and give her a hug because she sacrificed after she let everything get to that point. of course she would need a time to process. And i believe everyone of us would need it also in ther place, it was very bad. It makes sense, she was not there in all the hovering lips scenes, she is naive she just tought they couldn't stand each other, like they both said. And Kate claim to think also. And Edwina speech was very good in the end, Kate was making a lot of decisions on her behalf not getting her a chance to choose, just like Anthony did Daphne. I really liked Kate more in the book, in the show they made her a version of Anthony very stubborn and thinking she has all figured even the ways she talked with Danbury showed

One thing that angered me is that Anthony was clearly going through some sort of mental health crises (maybe some depression given how angry he was and how much he was drinking) and his whole family either was ignoring him and didn’t care or was degrading him on his wedding day. I love that you mentioned this cause with that perspective, you realize to the other bridgerton kids, this is normal Anthony since their dad's passing. All of them were children/teens, so they probably just accepted this as the new normal and adjusted to it, not noting how unhealthy it was like they should have. Just goes to show how much Anthony guards his feelings and that Daphne and Violet have been the only ones to call him out on it because they are the only ones who have experienced true love thus far and have finally moved into the acceptance stage of grief. Anthony has probably been heavily depressed for a long time which is incredibly sad and just makes you root for his happy ending more.

Here’s the this though…..you’re forgetting that his siblings are all younger than him. Now, Benedict and Colin, they probably could’ve helped him since they’re definitely much older than the others…but Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth…they were little kids with Hyacinth being a newborn baby so what could they have done? In terms of their mother, yes she should’ve been there for Anthony after it all happened whoever….she was the one who had to give birth, not Anthony. No man could ever truly know and understand the pain that a woman can give through during labor, so Violet was also grieving and had a right to grieve. As for after it happened….Anthony becoming the man of the house was not Violet’s fault. Think of the time period, back then society had it set that only men could be the leaders of the household and take care of everyone….Violet didn’t make that rule, that was all on society and even as a woman in high society she still didn’t have any rights. So while yes it’s messed up that he went through that trauma alone….there wasn’t a lot that could’ve truly helped him other than Benedict or Colin stepping up to help.

Love your guys reactions to this show! One of the reasons why Kate and Anthony understand each other so well is that they both have always put their families needs above their own. They both had an incredible amount of responsibility shoved on them at an early age, so they became hardened and have never really done anything to make themselves happy. That’s why this situation got this much out of control to begin with. By the end of this season I like Edwina again, but this and the next few episodes had me disliking her quite a bit. Kate and Anthony definitely handled this situation wrong, and I do feel bad for Edwina, but the fact neither of them are granted any sympathy for this from anyone in the show, is shocking to me. Anthony point blank told Edwina he wasn’t marrying for love, and Kate consistently told her as well. Edwina being too oblivious and naive about everything doesn’t make the things she said to Kate ok. Kate has done everything in her power to make sure Edwina has had a good life, and Edwina doesn’t even realize it. Anthony’s family has gotten mad at him at various moments this season about how he’s acted/handled different situations. This is definitely deserved, but they never asked themselves why he acts the way he does, or what caused him to be so closed off. I guess have more sympathy for Kate/Anthony than I do Edwina, because Kate and Anthony have given so much to their families without ever getting any appreciation or understanding for it. This conflict is amazing though, and the rest of the season is great!

I actually really love this episode because it shows the dangers of infatuation and love simultaneously. Love is what drives Kate and Anthony to act, while infatuation is what drives others. Edwina is infatuated with Anthony, and as she has little knowledge or direction, let alone an example, of romantic love, she becomes infatuated with an idea because people around her with said experience encourage her to do so. Lady Danbury, Queen Charlotte, and even Violet are infatuated with the idea of the diamond and the viscount and that all comes crashing down when true love is thrown into the mix between Kate and Anthony.

I hate that Edwina didn't recognize for a second even to the end of the show that Kate ALWAYS sacrificed for her and had her best interest at heart. Kate gave up the man she loved for Edwina so her future would be set and she would be happy. Anthony sacrificed for his whole family because the weight of everything has been on his shoulders for the past several years. And both Kate and Anthony told Edwina SEVERAL times that Anthony would never love her, so I don't know why she thinks she has a right to get mad at Anthony especially. Also, in what world would an older sister willingly go up to her younger sister to tell her she's in love with her betrothed? If the roles were reversed it would make sense for a younger sister to not understand sacrifices and tell Kate she's in love with Anthony but because Kate is older and her whole life is her mom and sister she would never DARE. I get that she feels betrayed, but Edwina had no right to be so upset over something she caused herself. it was her choice to marry a man she KNEW would never love her.

12:07 They did have an option to object to the wedding back then, but you wouldn't object in the middle of the wedding, instead you had to do it before the wedding, during the reading of the banns. So if a couple wishes to get married, the banns need to be read at the church where the couple lives (if they lived in different parishes, the banns would've been read at both churches) for three consecutive sundays before the wedding. The Banns are basically an announcement of the wedding, so if you had any objections that's where you would've done it. Of course, you could've stopped the wedding with your objection, but it would've been scandalous, like for instance when in Jane Eyre the wedding was objected to during the wedding because the marriage would've been illegal.

An "in defense of Edwina" comment! I just thought, while I don't believe Edwina has any argument for being upset at Anthony for not loving her, she does have one for him apparently loving Kate. I would also be upset if my intended provided every opportunity to let me know he didn't intend to marry for love IN GENERAL and then discover that he did fall in love, just not with me. I dislike Edwina. Anthony was very clear from the beginning that it was a marriage of convenience. Kate always tried to disuade her saying that it will not be a marriage for love when that's what Edwina wanted. This was her being stubborn and not listening to others. She didn't even let Kate to talk and just assumed that they were having an affair behind her back. I hate the way it happened, Edwina realizing literally at the altar as she was getting married but I'm glad she finally did. If cancelling a wedding at the last second is enough to make a huge scandal then I wonder what divorcing after marriage causes. I could only imagine it's highly frowned upon and because of that extremely rare. I understand Edwina feeling the way she is but I also understand Kate too. She tried her absolute hardest regardless of her feelings to get things to work out for her sister so their family would be okay but yet she still ended up hurting her sister in the end. Kate's decisions were admirable but could have been better if she had just told Edwina the truth right from the gecko. It is amazing how much flew right by Edwina not realizing what was always right infront of her too.

This episode really highlighted how much of a plot device the character of Edwina was, she was so inconsistently written saying the most ridiculous things that bore no resemblance to previous words or behaviour. This could have been so much better than what they wrote, and this episode more than any other comes across as some self indulgent melodrama on the part of the writers. I also felt that narratively this episode didn't do much for the main story, only about 2 minutes of it actually moved the plot along. all in all the worst episode of the season with one of the best scenes (the kiss).

I feel bad for edwina but only to a certain extent. While it definitely was a betrayal idk why she was surprised he doesn’t love her. He himself had made it pretty clear it wasn’t a marriage of love. I do feel bad for Kate too. She’s done everything for her family and then this happened even after she tried to put her feelings aside. And once she had recognised her feelings she was going to come clean until Anthony proposed. But kissing right after the wedding was cancelled? Bro 💀🤦‍♀️

I understand why people get so frustrated with Edwina's words because it almost implies that she is agreeing with what Kate and Anthony have already said, but I think there is some nuance to her saying what *I* want/deserve, versus what Kate has been doing, she thought she wanted Anthony because he was pursuing her but wasn't sure as to the why. Kate was living vicariously through Edwina, don't misunderstand me, I love Kate and her selflessness, but she's giving Edwina everything she wants (by she I mean Kate) and I don't think Edwina is ungrateful, but she never asked for Kate to suffer, maybe its because I'm a younger sister but it can be so hard to realise that you have caused so much pain to someone you love so much, even if inadvertently, on top of all the complicated feelings after being lied to. Also going into a marriage unsure if you're husband loves you is very different from knowing he actually loves your sister.
