This was the fairytale to end all fairytales. A team who survived by the skin of their teeth the previous season going on to win the league. Its truly inspirational. It gave all the other smaller teams hope that they too can achieve big things. That the Fulhams, Bournemouths, and Brightons of this world can replicate what happened here. This was a team that aimed high and worked super hard. Look where it brought them.

Arguably in all of organized team sports....can't think of a greater accomplishment when you factor in all the variables. It wasn't just a single night where they punched above their weight. what north ferriby united did was arguably a greater achievement. a small village team winning the FA Trophy at wembley and then getting to the conference. some of those teams have bigger attendances than the entire population of north ferriby. the season after they were relegated they announced a budget of only £500 for the entire squad. the non league paper actually said this was a bigger achievement than what Leicester did and bookies claimed they wouldve given larger odds too. its all opinion but seriously look at what north ferriby united achieved.

@@gozuam1617 Arsenal did bottle it, it was the lowest winning point total in PL history and Arsenal who’d spent far more to accumulate their squad were nowhere near them. Nobody downplayed Leicester winning it lol, they deserved it as the rest were awful. All the other big clubs were in a mess/transitional phase, yet Wenger who had everything how he wanted - claiming a single outfield player couldn’t improve us while we only signed Cech on a free the previous summer - couldn’t touch them with a barge pole. Some Arsenal fans wanted a certain manager out recently and mocked his accent in the process - they deserved the past two years of pure misery as a result. This was truly world shattering. Little Leicester toppled titans, not by fluke, but by winning time after time. It was simply unfathomable. It would be like jamaica or Madagascar winning the world cup. Unthinkable. They went up against money, wealth, status and power, the best teams funds could buy and beat them with grit, determination and faith in themselves. They didn't just punch above their weight once, they did it again and again and again. From this point on every other small team had hope that they could be the next Leicester and that will never ever fade. It could well be the greatest underdog story football has ever told. People can argue about knockout tournements, a few games over a month or so, but to compete at a level far higher than anyone ever dreamed? To beat champions again and again? To keep fighting even though you are facing the huge spending power of giants? Thats different. That is truly special. It is hard to ever see it being replicated, the utter drive these boys had to do what they did happens once in a century. Miracles truly do happen, i just never thought i would see it firsthand.

@@Legenda20SLO when City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal were all strong? City who were managed by Manuel Pellegrini and who took their foot off the gas when his departure was announced? And *still* City finished above United. Liverpool who finished 8th? Their joint worst ever final position since pre-Shankly?? Come off it 😂😂😂 He’s had a track record for things going south because of his negative tactics and constant tinkering of his team going back to the early 2000s. I never said anyone can win the prem, but it’s not like he was the only one who performed the miracle. He was helped *greatly* by circumstance and the people around him. He lost 1 player and his results went down the pan at Leicester. A player he didn’t even want! He got sacked somewhat harshly by Chelsea in 2004, but then hardly set the world alight in any of his jobs until Leicester, then things went south like they had done in his last several jobs.

As amazing of an achievement it was, it's funny thinking that every other season apart from one in the last 20 years, with the points tally that Leicester had, they wouldn't have won. Guess it was just written in the stars

I still can't believe that this happened. So many things had to go right for Leicester to win the league. Surviving relegation the season before, the underperformance of all the big clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton all missing out on Europe, Newcastle and Aston Villa getting relegated). The dominance of Klopp and Guardiola wouldn't start for another couple of years, and to have Leicester, Arsenal or Spurs occupying any of the top 3 spots at this point 6 years on would require an exceptional job from any of those teams. Truly a once in a generation moment.

Not a Leicester fan at all but I definitely became one this season. I hate the rollercoaster emotions of supporting a club, which is why I support no team but this was different. I became anxious, watching behind sofas etc, desperate for Leicester to win the league with every passing game, after around December. I would have been genuinely gutted had they not won it.

Probably the most popular Premier League champions ever. To have a squad that didn't seem capable of getting anywhere NEAR the title to do that is magic. And to think it took just £5.6m for their secret weapon... I was overjoyed when Liverpool won the league in 19/20, but I really happy for Leicester to do the unthinkable as I was when they won the FA Cup last season.

It was Arsenal's to lose at one point and lose is exactly what they did. Leicester were outstanding that season and probably deserved to win it, but it was yet another season that Arsenal fans were left lamenting through poor management and bad transfer window business.

People often forget this. It’s spurs who get all the jokes but spurs were never top of the league that season. You can’t bottle something you were never on course to win. Arsenal couldn’t have been given a better chance to win one last title during Wenger’s reign, baffling that they didn’t win it. Brilliant from Leicester to capitalise
@Longlostpuss
@Longlostpuss 2 жыл бұрын
@@ClaraFinn Not really baffling if you'd already seen how Arsenal had been handling the transfer market since the Emirates move. They always took their foot off the gas at the key moments and left the squad just short of being strong enough to get over the line through lack of just one or two more signings. It was frustrating to the point where I gave up even bothering to watch transfer deadline day.

Arsenal 2016, 2011 and 2008 were good teams short of 2-3 world class players away from being elite. Wenger and the board’s refusal to invest stopped such a progression from ever happening. When Liverpool got a decent side in 2018, they invested in 2-3 world class signings and are reaping the rewards even now.

Fantastic achievement. And all because they took advantage of Chelsea's faffing about with the club's medic/Mourinho situation. Spurs were the only team challenging Leicester and in typical Spursy fashion, bottled and made Arsenal the runners up 10 points behind the champs.

It’s quite anti climactic how only the last game of the season is played at the same time. In my opinion only the first half of games should be scheduled before the season, the second half should be scheduled only 4 games at time to ensure all sides playing to not get relegated or for the title and European spots all play in the last month of the league.

It kind of annoys me as a Leicester fan to see people saying arsenal and Tottenham were bottle jobs that season, Leicester were top at Christmas and were the best team in the league all year, that’s why we won, because we were the best, we didn’t win it because Spurs or arsenal bottled it, arsenal celebrated like they won the league after that Welbeck goal but even then we were winning until a stupid red card which turned the game
