This is extraordinarily good. It's also very British. There are references to the British TV adaptation of The Darling Buds of May ("Perfick!") and a British documentary about the English national football team ("Do I not like that?"). It is rich and painful and sour. I haven't seen the American version. Is it nearly as good? I imagine a translation that reduces the agony in order to appeal to a wider audience. Make it milder like American cheese, and sweeter like American bread.
@al201103 Жыл бұрын
You're pretty much right about the changes to the US version. It is very funny, but it's also quite a different show really. Different humour. People still bicker about which is "the best" but I honestly see them as two very separate shows. And we don't have to choose, we have both :)
@A-small-amount-of-peas4 ай бұрын
@@al201103can never see the point either. Love both incarnations and you're right in saying they are completely different show. Season 1 they tried too hard to be a British clone and it was very close to being cancelled after the first season but Steve Carell was in a movie that made a lot of money (40 year old Virgin) so they gave it another chance and the writers stopped trying to mirror the original so rigidly and it eventually found it's audience
