I'm not saying Americans are (uneducated), but it's not how we pronounce this word in the UK. And yes, it does matter because we are slowly eroding British English with American English. I think the Queen could see the end coming, the writing on the wall, the collapse of everything she had built up and put in place and lost hope at the end so quickly. The monarchy provided us with stability over the centuries, but was never really able to adapt fast enough to a changing world through self-imposed rituals and procedures (Prince Philip tried to hold the waters back from a while), but the seeds of their destruction were planted many tens of years ago. The monarchy is so out of touch now they've become museum pieces with no relevance and applicablity to the challenges the country and world now faces. As the Commonwealth begins to collapse and go their separate ways, we will see a slow and painful death of the monarchy, attempts to be normal are being seen as a kick in the teeth for people trying to feed themselves, pay the bills and avoid getting kicked out of their homes. They never really adapated like other Royal Families across the world, and suffer the fate of birds in a golden cage. It is really all over, the film/play/firm is over, there is nothing more to see (except visits to go shopping) now the curtain is coming down. There are significant challenges ahead that need our focus, and the monarchy has become a circus distraction with their self-imposed turmoil, family battles, wayward princes and become irrelevant.
