It's nice that Mike made peace with "The Monkees" situation towards the end of his life. Without the Monkees, Mike wouldn't have been able to continue on as an influential solo artist later on.

There is no need to apologize . They became a real band and played live in front of thousands of people . I think they became the greatest band ever ! Better than the Beatles !

They started out as a manufactured band. But they were smart and wanted to do things their way. They did have real talent .

I guess I had no taste either, LOL!!!!! @ 5:37 when Mike mentioned how ppl would say when they were 8 yrs old watching the Monkees they were the best! When I was 8 yrs old I LOVED the Monkees and had the biggest crush on MIKE but it was 1987 and I didn't know I was watching 20 yr old reruns on Nick At Nite. I cried when my brothers told me they were old men and showed me a pic of what they really looked like in 1987, HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! But still loved them ever since.

I had a full blown crush on Mike when I rediscovered the Monkees in 2012 (I first discovered them in the late 90s when I was 16. Davy was my favourite then, of course); it was mad, like I would sometimes cry about it! Now, I’m very fond of his older self, and of Micky too. They are adorable!

Great interview but it's so sobering seeing just the two of them. Godspeed, Davy and Peter.

They need to embrace that they were indeed, a band. They were put together in an unconventional manner, that's all. Some things are golden. The Monkees were and are something special in American music culture. Don't apologize for the way you came together, guys. Embrace what you were and are..... To your forever fans, you are Oooooooooober special! One of the most beloved bands of all time!!!

Good Interview in their last stage of their career. They look like they accepted everything that happened to them good and bad. Overall, it looks like being a Monkee was a good thing. The bad thing is that they are not respected by the HOF even though they had many hits. They didn’t write their hits. So what? Neither did Elvis. But they sang on their hits and that is the main thing. Now it’s practically too late because Dolenz is the only one left. Good going HOF!

Mickey will forever be the mischievous double dimpled cute little boy who happens to also be a great actor comedian writer director amazing singer musican.. Mike the sarcastically multi talented intellect. Mickey's actor writer father George Dolenz passed away in his 40's and his Mom helped taught him to hang unto his money spend invest wisely. He bought SoCal real estate early on in his career. Both these guys are very wealthy.

I know a year later but honestly the Hall of Fame has a bias against the Monkees for being a created band. I think too they’re jealous because in spite of being a fabricated hand for a TV show, they became a big success and even Headquarters onward - records the band themselves produced almost entirely by themselves with the entire band - were in the billboard top 100. It’s petty, especially as since bands built in the same way are now indicted. This is also to explain Mike’s post about the Monkees being dissed.

Nesmith was a really talented musician, businessman and promoter. But he simply cannot shut up or stop interrrupting. I've watched several of these interviews cause I loved the Monkees as a kid and they were the first record album I ever had. He's annoying as well.

I don't think they were a fake version of The Beetles. At its inception, they were fake and yeah, the creators wanted a similar thing, but they evolved into much more. Let's don't forget that, even as much as I love The Beetles, they put out some really really crappy material, aside from the amazing greats, of course. Anyway, I'm in total agreement about the show. I thought it was goofy, hilarious, witty and an overall fun time every time I sat down to watch.
