People hating on Godzilla x Kong for being akin to the late Showa era are out of their minds. We just got Minus One and Monarch Legacy Of Monsters. We are getting the the serious drama versions of Godzilla, and on top of that getting the fun, over the top version, at the same time. This is akin to having the proverbial cake, and eating it too.

Exactly. People who say that Godzilla vs Kong is too silly have never really looked at the Godzilla franchise. It's been both serious and lighthearted. Scary and funny. Thought provoking drama and fun action movie. There is plenty of room for a Godizlla movies of all kinds that are all valid.

Couldn't agree more. Godzilla has always been over the top and crazy. Thats why I love it so much. Kaiju fans are eating well today.

This is a really great, GREAT time to be a Godzilla and Daikaiju/Tokusatsu fan. And furthermore, given the dire state of today's Hollywood's output, the Monsterverse is now one of very few IPs/franchises that do not "stink" and, on the contrary, are at their best which is so, sooo rare these days. Just sit back and enjoy these days, folks! It may not last forever.

Great take, I really like the goofy and over the top action movies from the monsterverse, they're just dumb fun and remind me of the old TOHO ones, but I would also really like to see a more complex movie where the Kaiju are shown like the menaces to society they are

I do like the darker more serious tone but also don't mind the over the top action, I've been hoping basically anything with Kong is where they'll do all the sillier stuff but Godzilla in his standalone films will keep the tone of 2014/KotM and Legacy of Monsters
