The Spine Race

The Spine Race

Күн бұрын

The Montane Winter Spine Races 2024 enters day four. As the remaining ultra runners continue their battle up the Pennine Way, temperatures plummet and conditions worsen. The snow comes and makes a hard job harder.
After more scalps are claimed, 29 year old Jack Scott extends his lead over Damian Hall in the 268-mile Spine Race. And our competitors in the Challenger North and MRT Challenge North battle hard as the conditions worsen. Still along way to go before the finish line in Kirk Yetholm.
What will the Cheviots deliver overnight?

The logistics of getting round the course to capture people alone is amazing… and the fitness keeping up with everyone / poor signal I’d imagine in that area . Brutally cold too!!

I was lucky to interview Jack Scott and joe Parsons together this morning then Damian hall after them. I also caught a couple of challenger north racers before when I was waiting for Claire Bannworth and give her two warm chicken thighs. The videos are on this channel if you want to have a look 👍💚💛❤️

Thanks for the updates as always… clearly huge amounts of work goes in to cover the whole course, edit it & get a video out each day, but if I’m allowed one bit of hopefully constructive feedback: considering this went out at ~10pm I was surprised there was no mention in Will’s piece to camera of the unfolding situation last night with runners being held which had been going on since 7pm. It would have been good to hear something, especially an update about the runners who appeared to be driven off Cross Fell without retiring whilst others stayed out there. Fully appreciate everyone is crazy busy and the safety of everyone out there (not just the runners) comes way before letting the rest of us know what’s happening, but that’s my only comment - a bit more info would be great at times. Otherwise loving following the race again like always, huge respect to everyone involved! 👏

It makes me laugh in the first or second episode Jack says “the pace is too fast to be honest, but it looks like were going to have to dig a bit deeper” fast forward and he’s taking lumps out of the CR.
