Interesting fact: I am a nurse on a stroke ward and to test cognition we ask a series of simple questions to people who have recently had a stroke ("what year is it?", "what year were you born?" etc.). We used to ask "who is the current Prime Minister of Australia?" but we decided to cut it 5 years ago because it caused too much confusion and wasn't a reliable measure of cognitive function.
