When I still in my teens I had “This Is The Moody Blues” on a reel to reel tape. I thought it was the best music I had ever heard. Now I’m in my 60s and I still feel that way.

Back in the mid-60s to early 70s, some really great receivers were on the market. Even the mid-level Panasonics were darn good. FM album, rock radio stations were playing long songs, SOMETIMES SIDES OF ALBUMS. It was the BEST TIME to be a pop & rock music lover. These young kids won't understand. Some of these musicians were classically trained & TRULY EXCELLENT composers. The diversity, quantity & quality of great music WAS UNPARALLELED. The Moody Blues was in that category, AND STOOD THE TEST OF TIME. Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, Rick Wakeman & Yes, virtually 100s of Bands. All I can say about today's music is it is hit or miss. You like what you're used to & grew up with. But busting rhymes and sick beats have some merit, but they lack wholeness & mastery. Of course, it is a function of demographics.

_Requiescat in pace_ , Ray Thomas. The band's body of work would be unthinkable without him, in the form of his impassioned flute-playing and winsome vocals and, not least, his songwriting - any time you hear Moodies lyrics imbued with playful, storybook whimsy and innocent childlike wonder at the world's flora and fauna, whether depicting children at mid-morning play, a twilight "aerial display by the firefly brigade, dancing to tunes no one knew", the exhilaration of taking sixty-foot lighter-than-air leaps across the surface of the moon, or hymning his beloved in immemorial sea-shanty style, you can bet with confidence that you are hearing the words of Ray Thomas.

This absolutely beautiful tune is so much like an old sailor's chantey. Each time I play this tune/video, or other videos set to this sublime tune, I know that I draw nearer to My Eternal Love, My Lady Barbra Rose. I know she hears this from Heaven. To My Lady Barbra Rose - we were meant to be as one - to love each other, heart and soul- long before the oceans rolled out. Barbra, I love you beyond Time. No matter how long it might take for your return, I'll be waiting for you, because, for what is left of my time upon this earth, I will NEVER find a love that is as true; as abiding; as deep; as your love for me. My Eternal Love, My Barbra Rose, I shall forever remain Your Love, Your Champion and Your Husband.

My boat sails stormy seas Battles oceans filled with tears At last my port's in view Now that I've discovered you Oh I'd give my life so lightly For my gentle lady Give it freely and completely To my lady As life goes drifting by Like a breeze she'll gently sigh And slowly bow her head Then you'll hear her softly cry. Oh I'd give my life so lightly For my gentle lady Give it freely and completely To my lady Words that you say when we're alone Though actions speak louder than words But all I can say is I love you so To drive away all my hurt Oh I'd give my life so lightly For my gentle lady Give it freely and completely To my lady Set sail before the sun Feel the warmth that's just begun Share each and every dream They belong to everyone. Oh I'd give my life so lightly For my gentle lady Give it freely and completely To my lady

We had only two years together in this life before cancer stole you away from me (on November 22, 2010). It's almost four years on and I still miss you beyond mere words. Walter, Understand that your beloved will always be with you. She may show it in small ways, something may not be where you could swear you left it. There may be times when you are quite comfortable and feel a cold sensation through your body. Know that is her spirit letting you know she's with you. Know that she doesn't want you give up on life or moving on.

I remember when I was young, in the late 80s, in the country I lived in (Republic of Korea), television stopped broadcasting from around 10 AM until 5:30 or 6 PM. Starting at approximately 5 PM, the screen adjustment period continued for about 30 minutes or an hour. During that time, famous pop songs were always played on television. At that time, the house was filled with the delicious smell and warmth of dinner being prepared while listening to songs playing on the cathode ray tube television. (Even the smell of ramen being boiled with green onions and kimchi for the whole family is unforgettable) George Baker Selection, Camel, Alan Parsons Project, Bob James, Quincy Jones, and many other pop artists... This song is also a classic song that brings back memories of that time. If I were to express the feeling of this song simply, it was the feeling of the whole family living happily in a wizard's cabin in the forest. I think the red evening sky and the warmth of the dinner created that feeling. But there is one important fact. Men are much more romantic than women. ❤😊❤
