Those of us who lived thru 64-90 Rock & Roll were truly blessed, The world will NEVER again see the likes of artists like these chaps. They're playing @ a venue nearby Chicago tomorrow night. (Ravinia) . . . . I've got to check them out, because there's only a handful of talented R&R bands left.

I always took this song to be one of "unrequited love", he speaks about how couples "some hand in hand" can't understand him, he mentions letters that he has written, "never meaning to send". You're so right about the feeling of anguish, I always took the "Knights in white satin" lines to be speaking about the endless, and utterly fruitless, quests for the Grail from UK/French mythos... Reminds me of how I never got the guts to speak to Laura Barrickman in high-school, blew it!!

I've been a fan of the Moody Blues and I saw them in person for the first time a year ago and I really disagree with the previous post. I think they sounded and looked fabulous. I'm planning to see them again this year and altho I can only go to one show, it will be a fabulous memory for me, my sister and my daughter. My 34 year old daughter loved the show and thought they were great.

I know where Idle44 is coming from, but hes only half right, I'm not too old to enjoy greatness no matter if is an old song or not. And as for the moody blues, they still look and sound pretty young, so they are the exception to many rules, and ARE STILL GREAT!

I think this is from the show Jimmy Tarbuck used to present on a Saturday evening back in the late 80s. If I'm right, this is from 1988 and they performed NIWS, 'I Know You're Out There Somewhere' and a song with Jimmy over the closing credits.

@detroitjoeturner - Actually was created in 1967, but was re-released on top 40 in 1972. Charted #1 for the year and also charted high again in 1973. Incredible album. My mother (God rest her soul) loved it and was hooked on the Moody Blues and Days of Future Past from then on.

I seem to remember playing this to death on reel tapes and 4track. But in the 90's a heard a story that changed all that. A young high school chum in the redwoods of California was told to write an English assignment. She thought she had some great poetry and new this group that could really set it to music. She submitted nights in white satin etc and they claimed it as their own. Teacher and hd kid fought this and he never got a dime for this. Anybody out there brave enough to prove me true. I

I personally think those times where better because there was still hope and optimism in our futures and people generally had better morals and lived by standards of right and wrong. Today freewheeling is the standard. Trust has evaporated and we all need each other and that is the frustration. Just my 2 cents.

Regardless of being an artist, musician, or creative person, or just being a person, everyone has their own interpretation of a creation. I can even look at a photo of a butterfly and get a totally different perspective of that photo than the next person. My comment was based upon what I was currently listening to prior to being directed to this song, which I do love. When the song first came out I viewed it differently due to where I was in life. But thank you for comment.
