Absolutely Fantastic. As someone once said Ray doesn't even need a Tambourine to give him something to do on Stage, he just swings it Old School.

What a shame a lot of the late 60s British pop tv no longer exists in the original colour. The quality of this is so good it's like you're almost there 53 years ago.

I agree with you, so many editions of Colour Me Pop missing likewise The Julie Felix Show and The Bobbie Gentry Show with the later two shows regularly featured guest music acts and even though the shows was shown on BBC2 and in colour, BBC1 didn't go colour until November 1969 and there are only two performances from TotP from 1969 that exist in colour, Clodagh Rodgers' Goodnight Midnight and The Rolling Stones' Honky Tonk Woman from Xmas Day edition of the show, the rest of that show has been wiped.

One, two, three, four Ride, ride my see-saw Take this place on this trip just for me Ride, take a free ride Take my place, have my seat, it's for free I worked like a slave for years, sweat so hard just to end my fears Not to end my life a poor man but by now I know I should have grown Run, run my last race, take my place, have this number of mine Run, run like a fire, don't you run in, in the lanes, run for time Left school with a first class pass, started work but it's second class School taught one and one is two but right now that answer just ain't true My world is spinnin' around, everything is lost that I found People run, come ride with me, let's find another place that's free Ride, ride my see-saw Take this place on this trip just for me Ride, take a free ride Take my place, have my seat, it's for free Ride, my see-saw Ride, ride Ride my see-saw

Thank God this is one performance that the BBC didn't wipe. For all Americans out there the BBC wiped virtually all music related programmes from the 60's Top of the Pops being the most famous.

I would really like to know what sort of light projection device was used to create that psychedelic vortex light at the beginning of this clip? I would love to get my hands on something like this or make one of my own for my video art videos!

Same effect that was used in another BBC show, Dr. Who. This effect was pretty much used by all tv stations, thru the late 60s/70s. Not sure how its done, but remember it is Pre Digital. Perhaps see if there are any older tv producers on Facebook groups and such.

It was possibly one of Mike Leonard's creations, he did alot of lighting FX for the BBC during the psychedelic period. He built the first embyoinc light machines in the UK, they used a bunch of them on TOTP. He was also The Pink Floyds landlord in their early day's and used to have them play in his loft workshop while he tested out his light creations, there's footage of it from Tomorrow's World in 1967, with Syd Barrett playing what sounds like and early version of Careful with that Axe Eugene.....kzbin.info/www/bejne/gobNo6uujqemn5Y

@@kramrollin69 That Dr. Who effect is TV/video feedback, also known as "Howlround".

@@Alligator6002 This is not "one of Mike Leonard´s". It´s optikinetics, a motorised cassette with a revolving moire pattern mounted on a projector.

Look for optikietics solar 250 or pluto with cassette effects.
