I love this episode! What a wonderful skill. You are so relaxed as you share your passion with us. You are right, everyone loves a teddy bear! Mine got tossed when I was 4 or 5. He was so nasty and mom finally got him away from me to run him through the washing machine. I'll never forget him hanging from the clothesline by his ears for several days. Unfortunately he never dried and his stuffing went sour. Even I agreed he was no longer meant for this world. But he is still loved in my memories and photos.

Jen, what a wonderful gift you have, giving back life to old bears. I believe the word you may be searching for, having chewed off the end of the paint brush, would it be “texture”? We have a similar application in surgery of an ear. The end of the instrument holds a small amount of cotton wool, all being sterile, of course. The end of the instrument is “textured”. Love your channel.

Being American I heard the Teddy Roosevelt story, but not the English one. Now I understand when your husband had picked up the bear and made a comment something like of course getting the bear was inevitable (paraphrasing) I just remember the bear being referenced to and he bought it, now I know why and it's an amazing thing you are doing with them. With you explaining how you are going to restore him makes so much sense why he looked a little odd. The restoration process is fascinating I can't wait for Part 2 to see him finished. Wow! That was so interesting. I agree with your thoughts on the energy of older “ things”. I am an avid collector of all things old. I often feel like the odd person out as more and more people want new-pieces( ikea for example). I have tried to instill in my 4 children the importance of the history of a beloved piece -passed down from relatives and the stories these pieces tell. Thank you for sharing!

It never occurred to me to give my more than 50 year old teddy a good brushing but I think I will. I would really like for you to tell us the name and maker of the shampoo you use for old fabric. My Ted is not in bad shape but has never been washed or brushed in around 60 years, and I really would like to keep him in good shape to pass on.
