As soon as I seen Shannon Gilbert’s picture, I immediately went into shock, this makes this case really depressing for the family because Shannon’s case was so sad. She was so young too at the age of 23. Her disappearance actually led to the discovery of the other victims at the beach ( the serial killer was caught earlier this year, it was everywhere). There’s also a movie about her case, it’s called “Lost Girls”, it may still be on Netflix.

Hi, during the beginning of my psychosis struggle I also believed that television/music/media was speaking directly to me. I'm thankful I began seeking help the moment I realized I was losing touch with reality and even possibly going down a path that could lead to hurting myself or god forbid someone else... And it seems like her family was aware of her situation- constant welfare checks, updated on her mental state- this woman was likely offered help and denied it. But, it's harder still to make head or tail of, because someone with genuine psychosis does NOT BELIEVE they need help. I'm unsure what to make of this. What a hellish case. Please stay healthy and seek help the moment you think you might need it, at all. Stay safe guys.

As soon as I noticed that I was capable of this kind of activity I sought mental health help, and was later diagnosed with bipolar1. It's something that I have to be super mindful about because can I still spiral every few months and if I don't take my medication properly and/or allow my responsibilities to go to shit my behavior gets /super/ weird and ragey. Big problem is is that I totally get a high from the unwarranted anger/spite and burn bridges for fun. Those around me know to do a wellness check when I "stop making sense". I sometimes wonder what I would be like without the proper help.

Obligatory “nerd” comment: No hate, of course (and Pig was probably joking anyway), but some symptoms can be mistaken for schizophrenia. "Major depressive disorder with psychotic features" is a diagnosis, for example. Many diagnoses include psychoses: bipolar, schizophrenia, paranoid schizophrenia, catatonic schizophrenia, disorganized schizophrenia, residual schizophrenia, early-onset schizophrenia (childhood), childhood-onset schizophrenia, schizoaffective (bipolar), schizoaffective (depressive), schizoaffective (childhood), schizotypal, schizophreniform - That being said, she's definitely manipulating & doesn't seem to have schizophrenia or psychoses genuinely. 🧢
@GribReport8 күн бұрын
hi, actual schizophrenic here. This person did not seem incoherent. She fully manipulated the situation , and was not able to back up what the hallucinations were. In almost every type of schizophrenia, hallucinations this severe will cause intricate story building that even when incoherent is very vibrant and specific. To me it seems like she was having a blackout related to a regular mood disorder, rather than a neurodivergant psychosis.
@anglepsycho8 күн бұрын
Yeha, hearing her not be able to back up events was a lot more like blacking out than it was anything else. I mean kudos to the research, and granted there is a reason there are spectrums for disorders and mental illnesses, but this is a bizarre case of she lost it and her mind is scrambling.
@PsychoPony16 күн бұрын
Hey OP, schizophrenic here. Out of the examples you provided, you can abbreviate all but one of those diagnoses as schizophrenia spectrum disorder. Every patient has a unique combination of positive/negative/disorganized symptoms that overlap between each subcategory, making the hardline distinction between subtypes effectively pointless. It also saves you from typing out a ton of words! As you correctly stated, bipolar can lead to psychosis. Extreme cases of depression, stress, heavy alcohol and drug use, and sleep deprivation can do so too. Cheers~💜

As someone with Schizoeffective (schizophrenia + mood disorder) the fact that people always point the finger towards schizophrenia as soon as someone is psychotic makes me roll my eyes lol. People with no mental illness whatsoever could have a psychotic break from stress, or even sepsis, ect. Most often than not, especially in my case, is the psychosis and/or delusion usually leads to the harm or death of the effected person. In saying that, this is fucked up and she should've sought help once she felt the slip.

So while that one chatter was right (not every person with psychotic symptoms has schizophrenia, I have psychotic symptoms due to severe ptsd, I’ve been tested for schizophrenia, I do not have it) this actually could be a case of schizophrenia. Or at least a schizoid disorder of some kind. She has a life long list of different symptoms that her family seems to know about well enough to know how to handle things when she starts going out of reality. So this wasn’t the first time. That does not make her inherently dangerous, very few psychotic people are actually purposefully dangerous to others. Most of us are more dangerous to ourselves than anyone else. But she has shown a violent streak. Psychotic people do not know what they’re doing when they’re in psychosis. It doesn’t excuse harmful actions, but it does explain it. They are not themselves during those times.
@saltydinonuggies18415 күн бұрын

This entire situation was extremely sad. Also, shows that more should be done to make accommodations and treatment for mental health. I am disappointed though, that even with her family confirming she has a disorder and likely got worse from losing her sister, watchers and commenters are intentionally ignoring this and pushing that detail under the bed purely because they told about the dog. It’s really disingenuous And does more harm to the image of mentally troubled people.

Then we moved and just a bit ago they finally caught the guy turned out to live only 1 block away from my old house.... i used to see him occasionally never spoken with him or nothing but seen him driving pass or walking up the train station platform where he went to work in the city on the lirr. Its crazy. Apparently they haven't actually found evidence enormously that he killed all of tbe escorts and girls but whats the chances of multiple killers or cereal killers all buryin bodies in same location? Possible absolute the woods there little preserve had atleast a few people murderd amd barried there and it was at lrast two people arrested for different ones and another one was a friend of my husband's whos friend got him killed but he got off by claiming self defense or something like that... i honestly don't remember the details but multiple people really hate the guy and say they just know it was more brutal than he claimed and all really want revenge but killing him won't make them feel better and they all know that 😢 just sucks when a horrible person does something horrible and gets away cause hes rich with a powerful daddy😢.. but point is within a 20 ish year span multiple people buried bodies there and so 🤷 its possible he only killed one or teo and theres someone or more people who did kill other girls and buried them very near where the long Island cereal killer did... its crossed my mind if some from there and the Massapequa reserve had connections from a killer or him himself with some of the bodies atleast. Crazy stopped being able to go to beach for while cause investigatetion there then a few years later they shut down the preserve or large portion atleast and dug up so much of it.
