I'd start by focusing on the silhouette; a great character design has a very identifiable silhouette. I'd also look into shape language and incorporate that into any design you make!

I personally love your old art as they are so cartoony. I know anatomy is very important and I do believe it's good to know how a body works when you draw it but personally I like it if cartoony art doesn't really look "anatomally correct". It makes it more stylized in a way if that make sense.

i will confide in you for lotor appreciation!!! last year i tried to finally watch the rest of voltron (before i think i got to around s4 and stopped watching bc i didn't have netflix), and then when i saw what they did with him...like it all went downhill from there LOL i was so hurt!!! I tried to keep watching, but once i got to the beginning of the last season i deadass just gave up. i couldn't even just have it play in the background when i drew lol i was too annoyed T^T we remember the good times tho...
