When i go out somewhere, I always try to pay at least one person a compliment - “I love your shoes, your hair looks amazing, etc” it costs me nothing, and usually gives the person at least a smile, if not a good feeling for a while. I also thank people who hold doors, or step out of my way so I can pass (I’m disabled, and use crutches) and if there’s a child who does it, even though they’ve usually been told to by their parent, I always thank the child, too, because too many adults only speak to children if they’re bad, or ignore them completely.
