My favorite fun fact about the big oil achievement is that it is almost never completed in the way it was probably intended. Seems to be a troll achievement for those who are bad at guessing, but in all reality to attempt it with any real chance of success, one must know exactly which engine is needed to deliberately ignore it. I'd wager most if not all of the people with that achievement did it by choice as opposed to by accident.

I think I'd rather eat broken glass than do this one again. It takes FOREVER, and yeah you basically have to know the right engine immediately or you risk it taking even longer due to restarts. It's already a mission I don't like that takes too long but, this achievement makes it even worse.

Murphy's law can be sped up massively by using a hud that displays loot. Instead of having to wait for the drill you know right after loading in whether you'll get it or not. Guessing game solo does seem like it would be a massive pain. If you can get 1-2 buddies however you can just ecm rush the heist, speeding up the process considerably. Caution! Wet Floors also benefits from at least 1 other player to move ahead and kill cops before they can get near the prisoner. Docter Miserable and Euro Bag Simulator do take quite a while, but at least they're consistent. Similar to Kiss the Chef, Heister Cocinero, Farmer Miserable, Dr. Evil and What's in the Box. My personally most disliked achievements that I can remember were "They See Me Baggin', They Hatin" and "Impossible, It Can't Be. Is it?". The first is just RNG grinding trying to get that one specific escape, while having to carry 8 bags every time. And the other is also RNG, just opening packages and hoping you'll get lucky (I didn't get lucky). If you are only solo however, other achievements I think could be hard are "Goat in 60 seconds", "The Auction Cry", "Entrapment", "Short Fuse" and possibly "Beaver Team". In addition to all of the achievements that straight up require a full team of course. And a few achievements were just really annoying to grind such as "Let Them Fly", "I Did Not Have Sexual Relations With That Bulldozer" and also "The Pumpkin King Made Me Do It!" and similar ones that require you to get a lot of kills with specific weapon.

Just remember, the restart option was added much later. When we were going for achievements like Guessing Game, we had to team wipe to restart. Which meant everyone getting into a group, and throwing grenades at our feet. There's a lot of achievements that have gotten progressively easier as the game went on. Doctor Miserable, used to be an awful experience, but now it's quite easy. Reputation Beyond Reproach used to be a VERY difficult achievement to get, but it's only moderately difficult now. Tabula Rasa used to be quite difficult to get originally, because you had to spend Skill Points to have any deployables, but now the achievement is really easy, because everyone can bring deployables, and the bots can use whatever guns they want. I assume that achievements like Death Sentence One Down Goat Simulator is still painfully difficult, along with heists like Hoxton Breakout, and Lab Rats. But with the rebalances and powercreep, who knows if they're still the peak challenges of the difficulty mask. Sewer Rats can be difficult, depending on the sewer maze you get from the RNG. Some give you enough time, and others don't. Not Today actually became more difficult, because there's limited places to get a Cloaker to jump, and they received more HP, from when the achievement was made, making the grenade launcher kill more challenging than it used to be. Breaking Dead used to be a low percent chance to happen, but it was changed to spawn every time. Impossible, It Can't Be. Is It? and Blood Diamond are purely RNG based, you might get them on your first attempt or after hours. I Feel Like Robin Hood! is tough, because it's no crossbows and unmodded, making specials difficult. The Auction Cry has a little bit of leeway, but the time constraint makes it quite unforgiving. Everyone has to know what they're doing, and get above average RNG. Sugar, Lard and Scorpions is just silly, there's little chance that you'll find the churro, through regular play. It's possible, through people just being silly, but unlikely to be found. Texas Treasures Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4 are all quite unreasonable to assume that people would complete them, without a guide. I'm sure some people did, but I'd imagine that most pooled effort or waited for data miners. Part 4 is especially difficult, more so than the other 3 parts. Part 4 requires a team effort, so even if you follow a guide, the difficulty level on it, is high. The End is basically impossible, without using a guide. That would be a 0.0~% achievement, without everyone pooling their efforts. The "Cook/Collect X number of bags of " aren't overly difficult, just tedious. There's a handful of them. But I think I listed the remaining difficult achievements. Guessing Game is one of the few achievements that's always stayed at the same difficulty level. And depending on when you were grinding for various Infamy levels, will determine how difficult those achievements were. Currently, it's very easy to get through 100 Infamies, but back before the original Infamy, getting to 100 was tough. Then getting to V-100 was a tedious grind, then getting to 25-100 was a tedious grind if you did it before a lot of the exp rebalances, and then getting to C-100 was another tedious grind before adding the no reset option. But now? Infamy is a breeze with no punishment.

I managed to solo (with bots obvs) hox breakout dsod. it required moving extremely slowly and taking the time to regen health/refresh copycat anarchist invuln cooldowns, and then hoping to still have a doc bag to spare upon reaching the garage. day 2 is tough but relatively chill compared to day 1. lab rats dsod is utter misery (haven't gotten it yet) and I haven't even tried goatsim dsod

Nowadays its much easier, as there's mods that can just tell you the 20 achievements you need, or just get all 59 ahead of time. If you play solo, the final door is maybe 20 minutes of pausing, solving, and puzzle solving max.

Very good selection, I would say caution wet floors takes the cake for me with doctor miserable in a close second. Honorable mention to all these horrible mask achievements which, when i did them, were only doable with four players so me and my 1-2 friends had to wait specifically for someone to join who had the DLCs, could speak english and was willing to do these achievements. Worse than making me complete a really tedious task, the game punished me for not having enough friends 😢

I agree with this list. It was a nightmare getting all of these achievements. Secret achievement was a bit annoying too. I thought my game was going to crash after I solved the puzzle. It was skipping frames. My friend is still trying to finish Caution Wet floor for over a year. It took me several months of rage quitting and returning before I finally finished it.

Should have mentioned that in Big Oil Day 1 you might come across an asset called "Cold Fusion Research". You will find it on your Assets tab on Day 2. That thing insures that the correct engine will always be one of the two, you'll only need to find a computer in the lab itself, ignoring two paper clues.

Great motion picture! I find it quite humorous and well edited. On a side note, I respectfully disagree about Santa's workshop. It's my favorite bag moving heist because unlike Cook off and Border crystals, you don't have to physically do anything except keep the "elves" working, and the bags are produced much faster. As the maniac I am, I've willingly gotten 100 bags on this heist at least twice (only one was for the achievement). I agree on the other achievements though. They were a pain

My advice for anyone who wants to do the Santa's Workshop 100 Bags achievement: Place all the bags in the dropoff point that you start at and place at least 2 AP sentries next to it. This means that given you're able to keep pace with room clearing that you can move all 4 bags one-by-one to the dropoff before the next batch is made. I've done this twice in the last week (I use Payday 2 to relax and i zone out and listen to videos) and if you're kitted out for survival you should be able to last the entire duration. Also worth noting that the cops will typically carry loose bags to just behind the APC! IIRC the APC's turret can be blown up so if you only care about dropping bags in the closest spawn, the cops are basically helping you out.

I did doctor miserable with my friend and it was actually quite fun since we did it on a manageable difficulty and just used the time to talk about all sorts of stuff. The only element of anxiety which grew bigger with every next pickup was that did we manage to identify the correct engine and leave that as the last.

If i recall correctly you can hit the prisoner in Caution! Wet Floors with your melee weapon to get him moving again and some melee weapons have ranges larger than shouting.

Goat sims Farmer Miserable is one achievement I refuse to do. But for one I have, Hostage Situation is insanely infuriating for the fact that the game counts the stairs and 2nd floor as out of the store. For me, every achievement "with 4 player crew" is tedious- as someone with no friends who play payday 2. Even if I could convince 1, I'd still need 2 more. That aside, there's plenty of annoying achievements solo that I can't do. Any one that's straight up DSOD on loud maps - good luck me, I stand no chance basically. Those in themselves are difficult to impossible for me. Then, there's some DW difficulty achievements with specific things you have to do. Haven't really attempted those, but I have a feeling those are a pain as well. Any achievement involving stealth is gonna be automatically difficult for me as well, as a terrible stealther that I am. long story short, I'm down to the wire with achievements left that I find doable. I have done 589 achievements. There's likely a good few more easy ones I could do with little issue that will just take time. But I still have 735 achievements left remaining. My question to myself is - HOW? And I'll be lucky to even break 1,000 achievements.

(Mostly) solo player here too (played with one or two friends in the past tho). I somehow completed 1200+ achievements basically on my own, with the help of DSOD guides, speedrun guides etc. Just like you i had a few 4 man crew achievements left and recently gave in and resorted to the solo achievements mod to complete a few of them. Currently only have a few DSOD achievements and infamy achievements left to do. Good luck with your achievements!

A few not in this video that stick out in my mind are 'sewer rats' done solo(GO bank securing all loot through the sewers), farmer miserable (dr miserable but on goat sim), some of the Speedrun achievements are very though, the 4 man crew achievements if you play solo, and some DSOD achievements are extremely difficult (for me personally at least). I am currently grinding infamy, after failing DSOD beneath the mountain a bunch

Oh I was Dr. Miserable going for that achievement all right. I was just doing a little friends-only game while listening to music (thinking no one would actually join). Got down to the final engine when a buddy and his friend joined. I told them I was going for it, and they were cool, but his mate had some scuffed modded client or something that ended up crashing my game when he loaded in.

I definitely agree with this list. I've gotten all the achievements in the game, and those 5 are definitely ones I hated doing, especially guessing game. Some others I hated are Boom, Headshot (I played with controller AND solo so that one took me forever with the awful rng and bad aim), dsod lab rats is the hardest heist in the game esp solo because bots hate that heist (ergo hardest dsod achievement), farmer miserable arguably worse than doctor miserable bc you have to put together the cage every single time, and doing the secret takes forever (but so worth imo) There really is no better feeling than getting every achievement in this game though, I'm actually a little sad that I have obtained all of them now.

Murphy's Law isn't nearly as bad as Reputation Beyond Reproach IMO, as much as it took me a few days of trying for ML, RPR had more stress added. Reputation Beyond Reproach is completing Plan C on Deathwish, with no one out of a crew of 4 getting downed, cloaked or cuffed. In today's PD2 with builds that make DW a cakewalk it's not as tough, it's still quite a challenge. The trick I found for Guessing Game that surprisingly works is going for the first box you see, then the box that is closest to the server room, on the opposite floor. If the server room is on the ground floor, go for the box closest to it upstairs. Annoying achievements for me is definitely babysitting any power equipment; "Out of Bounds", "Watch The Power Switch", "I've Got The Power" "Pump It Up", and especially "A City of Sin and Well-Oiled Gears". Nothing like having a cloaker, taser or dozer sneak right under your nose and kill the thing 10 seconds from completion

In all fairness, two of the uglier ones happen to be at the Biker Heist. Day one, Letting the mechanic build the bike without being interrupted seems easy, but when he enters the warehouse to destroy the old bike for parts, police sometimes end on one site and without even seeing them, they'll interrupt the guy from doing his work. Day 2 has another hard one, which is finishing Day 2 within 120 seconds on Overkill or higher. This wouldn't be such a problem if the boss of the heist wouldn't take 10 - 20 seconds to kill. It is possible to do but you have to be very good at RNG and hoping not to be blocked by any enemies

Caution wet floors is hands down the most frustrating imo, cause of the janky movement and the prisoner being able to get stuck. In the other heists you can blame RNG to a much larger extent, which made this achievement feel much worse in comparison because I all have it in my hands and I truly can't blame anyone else. I still remember the day i got that achievement...all because of that 1 heister that decided to bag all of the machines and gather it all in 1 area Thank god it was on overkill difficulty, any higher than that would make me go crazy 💀💀

I know people have mentioned stealth speedrun achievements being bad, but I want to mention the thalassophobia achievement for the yacht heist. The problem? -6 minute time limit -OVERKILL dificulty minimum (basically standard for a lot of challenge achievements tho) -ECM rushing doesn't work -Stealth only heist Can't trigger the alarm because it's stealth only Can't ECM rush to combat the alarm because the last objective requires you to push 4 buttons which are disabled whenever you use an ECM One part requires you to go to the laptop and hack it (which roughly takes 20 seconds; 1/18 of the time limit given) The only way I see this being beatable is if you have multiple players due to the various objectives that take a long time to complete, especially because for the first part of the heist, you need to hack a laptop that gives you a description (and tag color) of each 4 stash, in which each stash has 2 bags of cash you need to throw to the sea (and some stashes requires you to take a trip to the nearest window that can be opened which sucks when having to haul a bag of cash which prevents sprinting, twice, even worse is the money being hidden in the kitchen which requires you to go up a flight of stairs to and from to dump the cash). The final part requires going into a server room, going under the catwalks and turning valves which depending on RNG can be pretty simple or can have only 1 entrance and waste your time looking for it, then pressing a button, waiting a few seconds (~5) for the next button and doing that process 4 times. I lost a solo game once because I had 0 pagers left, a guard spotted me so I killed him, used 2 ECM's not realizing the buttons are disabled with ECM's, pressed the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th buttons, got the hard drive, and lost to the 30 second alarm by a hair while trying to extract.

Caution! Wet Floors is giving me serious flashbacks to Don’t Touch The Deck from Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. What is worse than playing The Floor is Lava in an FPS one of the worst genres to include such platforming into and robbing you of covered? How about having the platforms move constantly because you are fighting on a listing derelict cargo ship while the enemies have the accuracy that make you realize what is like to be one of the police snipers who is killed on a rooftop by a pistol, and have no health items, dodge skills or armor to add protection. I was quite the masochist for this achievement as I was doing it on realism where you are three shots away from dying at any time regardless of the weapons you use and the enemies has better health than you.

It's very rare to trigger the ''Escape Day'', let alone be lucky enough to get the Garage one. I forced it with an RNG modifier after trying for days to get it. That one is so annoying.

This one spawns mostly after nightclub, Rats day 1 or 2 (not cook-off) and transport: Harbour. Nightclub is your best option. It is a quick heist, and you can get up to 9 bags of loot. Make sure to go loud before escaping and do not buy the escape van upgrade (or you won't get an escape). Doing this on mayhem or higher will assure at least 2 Titan safes. 1 with cash, and 1 with 1 to 9 bags of coke with the potential of a third safe with coke. I remember from long ago it was about a 20% chance of an escape day, but I am not sure if that number was changed in the past years.

Honorable mention: the achievements you unlock to access DLC attachments. Most aren't that hard but, it's BS that you have to grind to unlock stuff you paid real money for. And some are just stupid like scoring headshots with a sniper while ziplining.

And just to add insult to injury I play on ps4 and that’s one of the achievements that they didn’t add to the ps4 version. I forget what it's called but remember that Achievement for Big Oil where you have to get the right engine as the VERY last one? When I first started playing, I almost got it on accident. I couldn't figure out which engine was right so I just bagged them all up and took them to the helicopter. Got it right on the second to last try THEN found out about that achievement. Then once I figured out how the engines work (sorta) I went back and got the achievement on solo. Took me 2 tries in 3 hours because I spent a long time in custody, hoping my AI teammates didn't shoot any of the hostages... again.
