I think RPG maker is perfect at what it does. Making simple Hentai RPGs.

i am still making a jrpg style game since i am beginning my career, but i do want to make interesting mechanics and skills and whatnot. i can't necessarily make new tilesets or spritesheets since i would die before finishing the first area, but it should at least be better than Shield Hero.

I think rpg maker is perfect at what it does. Making simple turn-based RPGs. I really have no issue with people that make Well polished games with it. But honestly what kills me isnwhen people work 1000000000x times harder than they need to and make games they could have 1000000000x times easier and faster in another engine. It’s weirdly masochistic
@heavylobster433913 күн бұрын
I really don't get the whole thing about RPGMaker attracting so many people who hate traditional turn-based combat as a matter of principle. It makes things frustrating when you want to make a traditional turn-based RPG, and want feedback on how you can make a more engaging and refined version of turn-based combat within the engine. It's perfectly fine to like meme games and horror games, but it seems harder to find advice on improving your game's turn-based combat than it should be.

I really needed to hear that lol. I'm making a short game right now, which is completely story-based, however I'm flirting with the idea to implement some sort of battle system. The reason I want to do this is because, I want to avoid making a walking simulator plus because I think a battle system can be a great to tool to provide an insight of the characters, their traits and their relationships to the player. I know its not that original since many games have done that, (Undertale, Omori, Lisa and many many others), but its something I appreciate in many RPG games, because its done differently everytime. P.S: Sorry if I made any mistakes, English is not my native language (something that makes me really nervous when I'm writing the game lol, I need to proofread it a million times before releasing it)

@inciniumz46712 жыл бұрын
Space Funeral has typical turn based combat because it's a caricature of a typical RPG, specifically Earthbound games. If it didn't have that, the element of being a twisted RPG would be lesser, and this is considering thecatamites, the games' creator, is a very unique and creative person and I think he did that on purpose

Umm, yeah I'm surprised you mentioned Space Funeral. It's a wonderful game, I understand your criticism on the battle system and it not being needed. How you say it would be better without the combat has actually been tested by "The Paramingulator" which made a space funeral fangame where the battle system is literally poking an enemy and they die. But at least it's battle system is while not all that unique, it's not awful and heavily awful like that of OFF. While I do love OFF as well.

space funeral is both the best and worst rpgmaker game ever. creative art, great music selection, fantastic writing, terrible turn based rpg it is also the game that convinced me to gamedev. the meta commentary on it about how "if you just start right now, youll do mediocre shit, but you can still do it anyway" really speaks to me
@soupedman693 жыл бұрын
i think the joke of space funeral is that it’s a boring rpg maker game except the art, music, and terms are changed to be unhinged and significantly more interesting if you had space funeral without moon it would just be another boring rpg
