The title of this video is referencing a video made by Rick Beato where he breaks down a section of this improvisation by Keith Jarrett. The "beautiful 2 minutes" begins at 1:38 of this video. For what it's worth, I personally think the last half of this piece (which I have not transcribed (yet?)) is more beautiful! Please consider donating to my fund to transcribe Keith Jarrett's "Osaka, Pt. 1" from The Sun Bear Concerts. I will be making PDFs of each section available as I finish them. I know exactly which part your talking about I think, would love to see it transcribed (: In the beginning of the concert there's also such a beatifull part at around 5mins in! For me this one and Osaka part1 are the the most beatifull pieces of music i've ever heard. These transcriptions bring me so much joy, thank you once more.

@@kevinworth1713 Haha. I do think it would be cool if there was anyway to transcribe that. I mean, maybe there is, but I'm not the one to do it. Of course, I'm familiar with a bunch of Keith's solo concerts, but I don't think I've heard him do things like this before. He seems to be very good at plucking the strings and all that!

Michael have you heard the new Jarrett Deer Head Inn 'The Old Country' CD?? I think its absolutely fantastic - he was on amazing form that night. The version of Everything Happens To Me has to be heard to be believed! Enought to keep you busy for quite a while. What you are doing (and doing better than anyone else) is SO important. There seems to be a very negative attitude towards Jarrett from some younger jazz musicians (heaven know why) which i cannot understand so your work is absolutely vital.

Yeah, I've listened to this a whole lot, too, before transcribing it. It's definitely interesting to sit down and write something out that you're very familiar with and discover things that you never noticed before. For example, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what meter to write this in. I eventually settled on 2/4 which I think was the easiest way to go, whether that's how Keith is feeling it or not. Anyway, thanks for listening/watching!

Thanks for the transcription, Michael. Nice of you to share! Love Keith but his Americana blues folk technique was much more on display in the amazing Koln Concert. I'm sure most could agree this is NOT "the most beautiful two minutes of music" on the planet, but pleasant enough. As far as this predominantly blues/folk/gospel style, Elton John (for example) has far better mastered such. Listen to 11-17-70. Keith's inside the piano technique here is intriguing but hardly expanded upon. The Bach section is nothing special but pleasant enough. Develops into a mish-mash of styles, then repeats on a loop for about a minute before opening up some space. Again, starts rather interestingly then suffers from repetition and lack of anything too original.

Elton John has far bettered blues and Gospel than Jarrett? Listen to Keith's body of work and you will find subtleties, intricacies and generally rhythmic, harmonic and melodic excellence in these styles that Elton couldn't conceive of. That's not to say Elton is not a good pianist! Still each to his own I suppose. For what it is worth, this 2 minutes doesn't blow me away either but Keith's brilliance is that he allows things to develop organically...he doesn't push things just to show off technique or to impress....to say this small segment suffers from repetition completely misses the point of his approach to improvisation. And if you listen to his whole output it's obvious that this approach has produced some of the most stunning music of the 20th century.

Your title is very subjective…. There are tons of better moments in my humble opinions

Yes, I know. As I mentioned in the description and in my pinned comment, the title is a reference to a Rick Beato video about this section. I personally prefer the final two ending sections of Lausanne!
