Hey Randy! I’m 5’7 with a 28 waist and got them (both cropped and straight fit) in a size 1. I kept the straight fit as is and shortened the cropped one by ~2 cm. But I also have shorter legs/longer torso so depending on your waist size I think you might not need to shorten them at all.

The elasticated waistband means that no matter what size, the waist should fit. Look online to see the inseam length, because that changes between sizes
