46:08 dont know about other artists but i follow bts on social media and they constantly (especially RM) share and praise the music of other artists. western or non western, known or unknown, it doesn't matter. they dont shy away from complimenting other musicians' work on social media which to me is a sign of confidence.

You’re right, Jin had the natural talent for singing he didn’t realized. You know I have watched many of BTS history but I haver never seen any explanation why J Hope wanted to leave. RM’s hair 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 everyone has the same reaction. Korea, Japan and China have such a long history together, mostly not good history that it may translate easier. B,S,T is a very provocative mv. Intellectually and visually. In Korea you don’t pronounce the r. Pak. The 41 million membership does not accurately reflect the numbers of army as there is a cost to it. Many people around the world can’t afford the cost. I can afford it but I screwed up with my email info creating an account with Weverse that I haven’t been able to fix the error unless I create a second email account.

48:30 - I do agree to some extent about what you said regarding the meal collabs with McD's. Based on what I've been able to look up for other artists who did it, all these meals are something that I could order on my own to some extent (with modifications). However, for BTS their meal included two different dipping sauces that were actually only available in Korea - Cajun & Sweet Chili sauce. So for about a month or so, over 50+ countries actually were given access to try the sauces for the first time ever. Many armys would also add an Oreo McFlurry to their order in honor of Tae (aka V), because we saw him get one during one of their vacations for their show Bon Voyage a few years back. [As a side note: it is always so interesting to discover what products/items McDonald's in other countries have that the US doesn't carry - often due to that place's culture and diet. Singapore & Brasil are a few examples from my own travels. Ohh and in my opinion McDonald's does taste better outside of the US]. Another thing I'll add was that McDs went all out for this meal collab - some locations even decorated their interior. And the employees wore special shirts that had McDonald's written out on them in hangul (the korean writing system). The most shocking reveal was probably seeing all the packaging being 'bora-fied' (i.e. printed purple with BTS logo on them). Soda cups, bags, boxes, etc. had the BTS logo on them! And we didn't even know they were going to do that until armys around the world started posting about it from their visits tonthe store. The U.S. definitely got the short end of the promo though - you were considered lucky if you snagged a single 'bora-fied' take out bag 😆 (The comapny's excuse was that the US was too large to make all the packaging available in time for the launch). During the launch of the BTS meal sales went up 41% world wide. And many locations sold out other items (not just the nuggets). P.S. In my area we were not charged extra for the BTS Meal. In fact my receipt would have the items listed as the 10-piece chicken mcnugget combo with a note for the sauces.

As you probably know BTS was snubbed again at the Grammy. And you are correct V has a keen sense of knowing BS when he sees it. I am glad they didn’t waste their time to come to the Scammys. They disrespected them by not showing a correct picture for their Yet to come MV but showed the Hyundai ad. Thank for your reactions I enjoy your comments concerning the music industry. BE is definitely one of their best album ever produced by BTS members alone to show their mature of mmmakking music and their individual style of music for the momment, e.g. "Blue and Grey" pretty much set the tone of V's (Tae Tae) style and "Fly to My Room" for Jimin etc. The reason why we dont talk much about this is (my own thoughts) because we love to see you get to know BTS more before tasting BE album. Just like we usually wont suggest to watch "We Are Bulletptoof: Eternal" mv before watched most of their earlier songs' mv. Same as Yet To Come mv. But yeah, please react to their earliest songs like No More Dreams, No, We Are Bullet Proof:Part 2, Attack on BangTan, Just One Day, Baepsae, SpineBreakers, etc

45:30 RIGHT? I mean, everytime someone plugs groups as "they are in the same company as BTS" in the comments, I cringe a lot. PLUS the only "family"-group they have is TXT (for real, they meet each other members at home and stuff), and their label is Big Hit Music (as for TXT and Lee Hyun, all the other groups belong to completely different labels, now operating with Hybe money). I linked you some "yearly communication meetings" from the company (in another video) that they publicly released here in YT explaining "all" their moves, achievements, next plans... And as we've explained before, only BigHit Music from all this new conglomerate has a special treatment as it's private. Protecting BTS (and the other 6 artists there too) this way. There is an interview where they asked them if the Justin Bieber collab would come soon (I don't know why some faction is obsessed with that), to which RM said "I don't know, we are in the same company now so Justin, "friend", if you see this, call us" XD like he's so 100 for these things. PS. I must say BTS members promote (in instagram that is! They have personal accounts) anyone and everyone. They were recommending WAP when they were in the fight for #1 against this song with Dynamite, they promote any song/artist they like, even if they don't have anyone to be reciprocated. They don't hold back and they are honest about that.

So the jhope leaving thing, it happened after rapline had already made songs together as trainees in 2011. They released satoori rap on the internet in 2011, the first song under the name of bts. So by this time rm had probably seen how much of an influence jhope could bring to the group which is why he fought hard for jhope to stay. So the dude is wrong in saying "they had the group, they needed the music" They was already making music 😑 Also jin didn't think sm was a scam. He auditioned for sm. Then when they called him back for round 2, he ghosted them and never went back, cus... he is jin. Man is unpredictable sometimes. 😂 They did rm so dirty with that hairstyle. I blame bang pd for this. He pushed that outdated korean hiphop stereotype look on them. 😭😭😭😭 Khiphop is a whole mess of cultural appropriation. OH you should definitely watch American hustle life. That show deserves to get dragged. Blood sweat and tears is what made me army. It is one of those songs that has the ability to pull new fans. The thing is, dynamite was unplanned. Bts literally only made it cus they were bored with the pandemic and wanted something to do cus they were unable to serve in the military at the time.

@@ikmalhaikal2230 Maybe Jin embellished the story? It is Jin. Truth does not hinder him to tell what he considers a good story. It is all in good fun but I think there was a reason why Namjoon was rather sceptic because he heard "that" version for the first time. And I rather think it was Namjoon's choice. He is after all a big fan of old school Hiphop and K-Hiphop was still styling itself after that back than. The sterotypes still exist at least partly in K-Hiphop. Dynamite was made for Army. As a second language almost all Army from all corners of the world speak English. I wasn't asked if I wanted to learn it and so weren't many. It is a "lingua Franca" spoken in big business, tourism and the internet (and than there is the history/power of GB and the US to consider). What language do you think was/is spoken when IKEA built their susidary in Seoul? Managment that was sent probably did not speak Korean and they hired Korean workers that didn't speak Swedish. That's right. They used English. The label probably wanted it for stabilty but Namjoon wouldn't have done the song if he didn't think it would also be good for Army's mental health. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I should add that Hybe previously acquired Big Machine, BLMG and Valory records ( there's a 4th but I can't remember it's name). Those labels have a significant number of the biggest country and crossover stars in the US, including Taylor Swift and Rascall Flats. It's insane to think BTS went from a 1 bedroom apartment and a basement practice room under a restaurant that flooded every time it rained, to single handedly building an entertainment company that is now a significant player not just in Korea but also the US.

To answer your confusion abkut Jimin getting cut 8 times: Jimin had the shortest trainee period. He join around mid-2012 (about a year before debut). He actually joined so late in the game, that he didn't have proper singing lessons like the other vocalists. He used to sit in on JKs lessons (if I'm recalling correctly). I believe it was during 'You Quiz on the Block' that Jimin says he was almost cut from the group about 8 times. He used to call his dad every month saying how worried he was that he would be coming home soon because he was struggling through their monthly evaluations. But in the end jimin possessed a lot of passion and worked very hard to improve himself.

@@butterfly.7970 Tae auditioned in mid-2011, but he only moved to seoul into the dorm in Nov 2011. He would have had about a year of training before the final line-up was chosen. JIN & Jk signed to bighit and became trainees earlier on in 2011. But Jin didn't move into the dorm for about another year, after Jimin had already been staying in the dorm. (Probably due to college and just how cramped the dorm already was with 9-11 trainees living away from their hometowns there at one point). None of the members joined bighit prior to 2010, so the max training period would have been 3.5 years at the time of debut. Hobi was signed as a trainee first, even before Namjoon. But Namjoon was the first trainee to ever move into the dorm (which the company had to find first because they didnt even have a proper training program at the time). I'm unsure of when exactly namjoon joined the company as a trainee, but his recording of 'seventeen' which was released to promote the 'Hit-It' auditions that would have recruited yoongi came out before/around Sept 2010. Yoongi moved in on Nov 13, 2010 and jhope moved up to Seoul and into the dorm on Dec 24th, 2010.

American Hustle Life was one of the first things I watched when I first found BTS. Somehow I watched the entire series in 1 or 2 days. The first episode is terrible but after that it slowly gets better. There are moments that you really see the guys trying hard but as an American, there were definitely a few moments that I was seriously embarrassed. Some people were so rude to them but then you also have a few people that were very encouraging and supportive. It’s a mixed bag but an important part of their growth. I ended up very endeared by the guys attitude and how they handled themselves.

I just want to say this about the Grammy’s, a lot of people saying that the Grammy’s was racist, etc….. Grammy’s have always been shady, it has nothing to do with their race. It’s not based off of popularity or talent, big wigs go into a room and they vote for whatever reason, no one knows. They decide the winners, they already knew they weren’t going to give BTS the award, they wanted the views. Just like they did with other artist that should have won, didn’t. Grammys has always been shady, BTS doesn’t need them, they need BTS.

Coldplay was nominated for High power and BTS for Butter in the same category in Grammy (2022) (that’s why Jhope mentioned Chris) In 2023 BTS was nominated for Yet to Come and My universe (Coldplay X BTS). Unfortunately they didn’t win but like the guy says in the video it doesn’t really make any difference for us or BTS. In the end of the day BTS is making more money and breaking way more records than a lot of the artists that wins in this award show 💁🏾‍♀️

It's hilarious to me but i do think the first BTS song I ever heard was Dope. So it really was my first time with them 😂 i was listening to their stuff back in 2016-2017 but didnt become army til 2020. Became army cus my really good friend didnt have anyone really close to them that they could talk about BTS with. I say i became army in July cus that is when i started (Dynamite was my first comeback) but I declared myself army officially in October when watching the Map of the Soul ON:E online concert. I was a little weary about their genuineness with their fan and love til I saw Jimin have an absolute breakdown on stage over how much he missed the fans. Genuinely one of the most painful things I've ever seen and I knew that kind of emotion couldnt be faked. That's when my "I'm in this Bangtan shit for the afterlife too" era began.

Then at the end of 2018 something happened and I had to move to another country it was a very sad switched of my life leaving people and place that I love. That’s when I found BTS again on the 1st quarter of 2019 when I was feeling down having to start over again in another country. BTS helped me to move on and so the rest is history. Just started the video just want to comment on the names with hyphens! I am not Korean and didn't research a lot on it but most Korean names are 3 syllables total. Last name 1 syllable and first name is 2 syllables. The last name indicates the clan (and origin/place) and 2nd sylable of the first name is the level in the clan. The 5 main clans/family names in Korea are Kim, Lee, Jung, Park, Choi (and variations of these names). For example SUGA is Min Yoon-Gi. The Min clan is smaller but historically an important and royal clan. And the "Gi" part is predetermined because it refers to a generational name and so determines his level in the clan I believe. Each clan in Korea has a common patrilineal lineage/ a common ancestor. I think the practice of giving the predetermined generational part of the first name is slowly getting lost though. So basically just by giving their names a lot of people can tell where their ancestors are from, if they are distant "cousins" and which one is the "oldest" generation.

It's still kind of wild to see how much happened in such a sort space of time at one point. It was slow and steady for some time then it all just blew up so rapidly. And it makes sense because I went back to their first mini album and did their discography in order. I had a good time with the first project but I could hear their growth and improvement as the albums went on. You could almost match up the the songs with the popularity boom and think "Yeah that makes sense. This tracks."

Noce to know some of this, and I think the order that they joined the group is the one the did, because technically jhope had already signed with Bighit before hand. So yeah, I think this is the order in which the group itself came together. Which of course is RM, Suga, Jhope, Jin, Jk, V, and Jimin.

19:13 Aaaayyyy fellow ADHD pal! Ngl I had a feeling it might be the case because you're so passionate and so good at grasping information in between the lines! 💜 Anyways, when BTS first debuted I didn't like them much.. I used to think they were "posers" haha I loved their first two songs and the lyrics, but their whole getup was so incongruent and i didn't like the idea of them "wearing" hip-hop and black culture as a concept like they would do with a school concept or sexy concept. But the music was good so I ended up becoming a casual fan... Then Dope happened! I was feeling really down on myself back then, I was poor, hungry, tired and questioning whether I should keep working towards my dream. I felt resentful that I was working so hard, the path was still long and I had no money or time to have fun like people my age... I was also surrounded by people who kept telling me to give up already and that I was not smart enough for the path I chose. Dope is the song I needed at that time and it created a forever place in my mind for BTS since 💜 I've achieved my biggest dream now, and so have they! They're music still speaks to me, now that we're "on the other side" of that dream :)

About the rice thing, I think you are right. "you make jokes about this, lemme claim that joke for myself" (like Steven He makes "chinese father" videos with an accent) Rice is widespread staple food not only in many Asian countries but in South America too (Spanish colonizers brought the Asian one and Portuguese brought the African one :_)). So you'll find A LOT of rice-based dishes (as well as beans and chicken ^^) - Half my family is from Venezuela/my grandparents emigrated there in the 50s and I have a lot of Colombian and Chilean friends. When they see me eating a lot of rice, they say I look "latina", when my KR/JP friends see me they say I look Asian, when my African (mostly Cameroon and Nigeria) friends see me, they say I look "African"... So what I've gathered is that people that eat a lot of rice, accept everyone as family and bonds over food ;P PS. I didn't know about the watermelon thing O_o Thanks!!!

PARK / PAK: In the United States, when people migrated and told the customs officials their names, that official gave a "best guess" as far as how to write them down in English. Imagine meeting someone who speaks Korean for the first time and they say 박 (Pak). You might guess that they have an accent as if a British person said "park". That's the quick and dirty way to explain why many Korean Americans and Koreans translate their family name into "Park". IDK how Anderson pronounced it, and he has every right to say it as he wishes, but to pronounce it like "pack" is not the Korean pronunciation.

I was supposed to finally see them in 2020 on tour. I was supposed to graduate with all my friends, have celebrations, go to prom, have parties, fly to South Korea to see my boys…none of that ever happened. All celebrations were canceled basically immediately, our prom fell through, we didn’t even get a proper last day of school. It was March 13th. At 2 pm there was an announcement through the speakers: „This will be your last day of school until further notice due to the spread of the covid 19 virus.“ And that was it. We went outside, we cried, we drank, we hugged. It was hard to say the least. And when that speech was broadcasted…I sat there on the couch and I just cried. In this whole mess that had become my life at 18, RM sat down and told me it was okay and comforted me and promised we’d be alright. And he was right, and they’ve always been right there, just like he said. They aren’t just singers or artists. They’ve been my friends, my safe zone, my older brothers. That’s what makes them special. They’re reliable :)

The first iteration of this video was fun to watch, even though there was a bit of misinformation. But what can I say, I get goose bumps when BTS's growth and achievements are presented in a fast paced edit. But the update, part of it is how he presented the information, and part of it is how he is dressed, I just can't get into it. Also the name of the channel prior was Azn Theory, I'm not exactly sure how rebranding as Rice Squad seemed like the better business option. This video is skippable now, with the Bangtan 7 introduction and The rise of bangtan there really doesn't need to be much else other than the music and other videos where the guys are speaking for themselves.

You can correct me if I am wrong but I believe Scooter Braun personally owns Taylor Swift's masters not Ithaca Holdings (the company). And as for Jin not following up with SM entertainment - there is a practice with some agencies in Korea where they will sign you as a trainee but in the end you owe them for all the training. It's like getting approached on the street by a modelling agency with them telling you that you are special and have what it takes only to go to the agency and find out they want you to pay thousands of dollars for the so called training with no guarantee of a career when it is done. This is one of the reasons why many families (or parents) don't like the idea of their kids wanting to be 'Idols' because of the debt it brings to the family and no guarantee that you will actually make it to debut or even get placed in a group. Part of the reason why some of the members joined Big Hit was because they did not have the 'debt' clause in their company.
@elisiagoncalves6773
@elisiagoncalves6773 Жыл бұрын
Following up on this - while this practice does seem to be fading out, it was something many idols groups used to experience in their labels. The idols wouldn't recieve a paycheck until they generated enough earnings to replace the amount the company invested to debut them. BTS didn't have this clause in their contract, but the company was really struggling to stay afloat all the way through 2015. HYYH pt1 was in theory going to be their 'swan song' album. Neither the members, nor the label had any clue if they would survive to another comeback. But their risk in exploring their music is what got them their first music show win with 'I Need U' and launched their growth and sucess. The company started breaking even and generating profit during the HYYH/Youth/Most Beautiful Moment in Life triology.

I'll also add that during their training period, yoongi at one point injured his shoulder. He was out doing food deliveries on a motercycle/scooter to help pay for his tuition for college and got hit by a car. He was so terrified that the company would kick him out of the group if he told them what happened, so he lied about how and why he got injured (instead he said something about falling down some stairs or something). Eventually he told them the truth, and the company ended up paying for his tuition so he didn't have to work anymore. Yoongi has suffered with the shoulder injury for my years, tonthe point that we could visible see hownit was preventing him from performing to his full abilities back in Oct 2020 during their Map Od the Soul online concert. Thankfully, the following month he was able to get surgery to repair his left shoulder. And now he's doing so much better and is no longer in pain 🥺

Just I personally was never a fan of this video. It’s not like information isn’t good, but it’s mixed with his narration/way he presents which seem to be based on his own assumptions (not knowing reasons/context & such) therefore making statements that I consider accurate or can lead to misinformation. A lot of new armys were into it during the pandemic, so they keep asking ppl to react to it. Although, I’m glad he updated the video (probably some army educated him), he still kept some of the same stuff. But that’s okay, because any one video (or person) can’t teach you everything about them (or any one you meet) and it isn’t like the end all be all way to learn. No matter how much BH/BTS planned, things happen unpredictably and Bang PD even said they were not sure of their future (while working on Dark & Wild album). It was not easy, and success was not handed to them just because they wanted it.

All content that the media and KZbin channels make are supposedly fact based, but they pose headlines and frame their stories with misleading phrases and keywords that are not based on accuracy (making up conclusions that sounds good) to get most clicks/engagement therefore get more $. As someone who previously worked for media and studied media, film, tv, etc…. I’m highly suspicious of most info put out especially by those who make $ off of it or that you can tell they are clout hungry. I usually check the actual source and what happened behind them. Anyway, their JP versions don't do that (and they also have JP original songs that are not in Korean) ^^ But phonetically, writing, vocabulary... nothing to do with each other (there are exceptions: the words for fate (unmei, unmyeon) or family (kazoku, gajok) come to mind)

@AMBER PEARCE, yeah I know there’s a lot of ARMYs out there who do not like” American Hustle Life”! Remember BTS did start out as a hip-hop group, and Bang Shi Hyuk didn’t send them out there to goof around he wanted the boys to learn the basic and the beginnings not just about wrapping he wanted to know the background behind hip-hop in the west coast of USA! And I’m sorry V , Kim Tae-hyung was in the wrong he was saying silly things like “turn up“! Coolio was about business he was hired to be a mentor in West Coast hip-hop he wanted them to know the origin of hip-hop and major factors of how hip-hop grew throughout the years! I did not like the kidnapping either in the beginning where BTS were more or less sabotage without knowing that large African-American gentleman jumped into the van and took the boys for a kidnap ride but this is the” hard knocks life “ to quote Jay-Z! Hip-hop is a serious street urban business of real hard life this is nothing to do with easy street here remember they’re there to learn and to get real life experience! Because if you were to talk to other rappers where they grew up harsh difficult crime infested roach infested housing ! BTS we’re not gonna be coddled or make things easy this was exactly how hitman Bang one of these boys to learn! True Warren G was a little nicer but Coolio was about no this is how it’s going to be this hard this is not easy you gotta know the truth behind hip hop nobody is sitting here going to baby you or coddle you! And BTS aren’t hurting look at them now you have to go through many different avenues in your life whether they are difficult whether they’re easy BTS are successful! Rest in peace Coolio💜🙏🏼

I’m not really sure why ppl would still want u to watch this? It doesn’t offer anything u hadn’t already been told… but makes sure to insert plenty of opinions & skewed narratives. For example, he tells this like it was a conscious decision to look specifically for a dancer like Jhope, or missing a spark & looking for a Jimin. That’s not how or why auditions are held. Companies hold auditions to look for talent & sometimes find exceptional individuals. Also, he gives the narrative that the company signed the members in this order, but that’s not true either. Like, JK was signed to BigHit before Jin, but his 13yr old butt didn’t move into the BTS dorm until the day after Jin. The storyline is also presented in a way that isn’t linear. Example of this is when he mentions Jhope wanting to leave the company. It’s presented in a way that makes u think this was done early on, but occurred even after other members were a part of the group. Like, it’s been mentioned how badly JK took the news of Jhope wanting to leave. As an Vintage Army, I have problems with a lot of these origin story videos bc of misinformation, much of which has been told so often many act/think like it’s fact. Once he gets past the member introductions section, he does better with the group’s career timeline. Again, minus the insertion of his opinions. Anyways, always glad to see another reaction. Thanks!

No problem. Note that it’s covered we can move on. Better videos and sources on the way.

Actually he did say the correct order, even bts members confirmed that this was the order they joined the company, but he missed some details. Before scouting the vocal line, the rap line was practicing with few other trainees that were supposed to be in the hiphop group with them, but eventually bang PD decided to leave this idea and create the idol group that'd be heavily influenced by hiphop. Jin was originally scouted to be a model and actor for BH music videos since he was majoring in acting, but bang PD saw potential in him and convinced him to eventually join the group, so Jin was the 4th one and the day after little JK joined the group. Funny story: the first time JK met RM in person was when he was moving into their dorm and RM wasn't wearing any pants just his underwear and all JK said was "wow thighs" lol. Then Tae joined after passing the auditions, even tho he was a hidden member, he joined before Jimin. Jimin was the last one to join in 2012 and had the shortest training period. Before their debut Bang PD asked RM if he wants to go solo or debut in BTS with the rest of the guys and even tho it was a tough decision, he decided to debut with the guys as the team, bc he believed in them. Also at some point Yoongi wanted to leave too when he found out Bang PD decided to debut them as idol group and not hiphop group as he was promised. He was debating with himself if it's worth it, but in the end he stayed even despite the fact he'd have to dance

The video of Namjoon being asked whether he wanted to be in bagtan or go solo actually happened a while after the guys had already debuted. I wanna saw sometime in 2014 during the Boy In Luv era judging by all 7 of their hair colors. That video was also a hidden camera prank. Either way...namjoon certainly didn't hesitate to chose bangtan.

No! It was not a hard question, NamJoon choose BTS without hesitation, He even didn't need any second to answer Bang pd's question, and it was after their debut, well after debut they have some moments cry together, and make a mantra "we are brothers!" They bond so well since before debut, they already so close emotionally. About Yoongi, in Suchwita (I forget the name of the guest, but he is a senior actor from Daegu like Yoongi). So, Yoongi told that he really want to debut, debut on tv is a must for him, u can see this statement from him in Suchwita. The only problem is Bang pd told him he didn't need to dance, as long as hip hop, so he can rap it's not a problem for him, he even a big fan of Big Bang! he knew what he did tho, he got everything, first he want to write his own song, Bang Pd really give this freedom so much to the guys, he want to be a producer, Bang Pd support and give him space and facility for this, also for all the guys who want it. Then he was going to debut as rapper in entertainment industry. Not to mention, he already enjoyed his life with the guys, practice and worked with them, and lived in their old dorm together, shared a room together, he even the first one who told Jimin, that he has to work hard to debut with team, because he like Jimin voice, this was a turning point for Jimin because he was not really into the team for debut, but after Yoongi asked him to practice to sing and debut with team (Suchwita eps Jimin) (U can see how they really want to debut with this team).
