Christopher Cross is still touring! He was down for a while with a bout with Covid. It was a bad case and he almost left us. He was able to recover, and he's back, better than ever! Still got that voice! 💯

A very smooth, beautiful, melodic sailing reaction ⛵! Sailing was released as the second single from Christopher Cross' 1979 album: Christopher Cross. It was written by Christopher Cross. It was produced by Michael Omartian. The song reached #1 on the Hot 100 and #10 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song: "Sailing" earned three Grammy Awards in 1981 for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Arrangement of the Year. In his Grammy acceptance speech, he acknowledged "Sailing" as his favorite song on the album and that originally it wasn't meant to be a single. VH1 named "Sailing" the most "softsational soft rock" song of all time. The song was later identified as an archetype of the style that became known as "Yacht Rock". This live performance was at the 1980 Grammy Awards. Christopher Cross has said in interviews that the song's inspiration was his friendship with an older friend from his high school, Al Glasscock, who would take him sailing as a teenager, just to get away from the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. Al Glasscock functioned as a surrogate older brother during a tough time for Christopher Cross emotionally. Although Christopher Cross lost touch with Al Glasscock, The Howard Stern Show in April 1995 reunited the two after 28 years. Christopher Cross acknowledged on the show that his sailing trips with Al Glasscock had been the inspiration for the song. After that reunion, he sent Al Glasscock a copy of the platinum record he earned for selling more than five million copies of "Sailing." Christopher Cross Info 📰: Singer/songwriter Christopher Cross was born Christopher Geppert on May 3, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. He is a singer, songwriter and music producer. He won five Grammy Awards in 1980 for his self titled debut album released in 1979. The singles: "Sailing" (1980), and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", both peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song: "Sailing" earned three Grammys in 1981, while "Arthur's Theme" won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981 along with co-composers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager and Peter Allen. In a career spanning more than four decades, he has sold over 10 million albums. His music has garnered five Grammys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, an Emmy nomination and five Top 10 singles. Cristopher Cross, bassist Andy Salmon and keyboardist Rob Meurer met in San Antonio, Texas when they were still teens. Christopher Cross and Andy Salmon became bandmates in the group: Flash. Together, they formed "Christopher Cross" as a band and moved to Austin, Texas where they added drummer Tommy Taylor. There, they played cover songs for cash while recording demo versions of all original songs at Austin's Pecan Street Studios, which they shopped their demo tape to record labels. Though they considered themselves a band, Warner Bros Records signed Christopher Cross as a solo artist in early 1979. Christopher Cross released his self-titled debut album: Christopher Cross, on December 27, 1979. Billboard Hot 100 top 20 hits from this album included the songs: "Ride Like The Wind" (featuring backing vocals by Michael McDonald), "Sailing", "Never Be The Same" and "Say You'll Be Mine" (featuring backing vocals by Nicolette Larson). The song: "Ride Like the Wind", hit number two on the Hot 100, while the song: "Sailing", topped the chart for one week. The song: "Never Be The Same", went number one on the Adult Contemporary chart. The album: Christopher Cross, and the song: "Sailing", were nominated for six Grammy Awards in 1981 and won five. He won for Record of the Year ("Sailing"), Album of the Year (Christopher Cross), Song of the Year ("Sailing") and Best New Artist at the 23rd Annual Grammy Awards. In addition, "Sailing" won for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s). The album: Christopher Cross, has been certified platinum five times by selling over 5 million copies. Later in 1981, Christopher Cross released the single: "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", co-written by Burt Bacharach, which was the main theme for the 1981 film: Arthur. The song won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981, and was nominated for three Grammys, but did not win. In the U.S., it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the Hot Adult Contemporary charts in October 1981, remaining at the top of the Hot 100 for three weeks while it also was a top-ten hit in several other countries. The song became the second and last American number-one hit by Christopher Cross. His second album: Another Page (1983), produced the singles: "All Right", "No Time For Talk" and "Think Of Laura". The song: "All Right", was used by CBS Sports for its highlights montage following the 1983 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, while the song: "Think of Laura", is used as a reference to characters on the Soap Opera General Hospital. He allowed ABC to use his song in this context; however, he has stated that he wrote the song: "Think Of Laura", not in reference to the General Hospital television characters, but to celebrate the life of Denison University college student Laura Carter who was killed when she was struck by a stray bullet. The album: Page, sold well, getting Gold certification. He also co-wrote and sang the song: "A Chance For Heaven", for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. After 1984, his commercial success faded. As music television channel MTV grew to dominate the mainstream music scene in the United States, his style of music proved to be a bad fit for the network, and his brand of Adult Contemporary music declined in mainstream popularity. His next two albums: Every Turn Of The World (1985) and Back Of My Mind (1988), did not produce any top 40 hits or reach Gold or Platinum status. He did, however, place the song: "Swept Away", in the NBC television show Growing Pains. It was used during a video montage while Kirk Cameron's character Mike Seaver fell in love with a local girl while vacationing with the family in Hawaii. Christopher Cross made three more albums in the 1990s, and although some of his releases gained critical response, he was not able to attract the mass audience he once enjoyed. After his decline in fame in the mid-1980s, he toured and opened for various acts during the 1990s. The year 2002 saw the release of his greatest hits album: Very Best Of..., and in 2007 he completed a Christmas album titled: A Christopher Cross Christmas. In 2008, he recorded a new acoustic album of his hits titled: The Cafe Carlyle Sessions. In 2011, he released a new studio album titled: Doctor Faith. In 2013, he released the album: A Night In Paris, a 2-CD live album he recorded and filmed in April 2012 at the Theatre Le Trianon in Paris, France. The song: "Ride Like The Wind", was featured on movie soundtrack for the 2013 film: "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues". In September 2014, he released the album: Secret Ladder, followed in November 2017 by his most recent album: Take Me As I Am. In 2018, Christopher Cross and music producer Randy Miller created the band: Freedonia, and recruited local Austin, Texas musicians including: Scott Laningham- Drums, James Fenner- Percussion, John Fremgen- Bass, Eddy Hobizal-Wurlitzer Piano, Sean Giddings- Keyboards, Jeff Hellmer- Keyboards, Stephano Intelisano- Keyboards, Seth Carper- Tenor Sax and Russell Haight- Tenor Saxophone, Justin Vasquez- Alto and Soprano Saxophone. The group has released two albums: "Freedonia" and "Firefly", plus an EP: "Bring Back The Dinosaurs". In late 2019, Christopher Cross toured with Todd Rundgren, Jason Scheff, Micky Dolenz and Joey Molland of Badfinger in celebration of the Beatles' White Album on the "It Was Fifty Years Ago Today - A Tribute to the Beatles' White Album" tour. Christopher Cross performed his hit songs: "Sailing" and "Ride Like The Wind". During 2021-2022, Christopher Cross played in his 40th anniversary tour which had been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Christopher Cross still performs his music live on stage in 2023. He has a website called: Cristopher Cross. ****CONTINUE BELOW****

That is a beautiful song. I remember when he came out, he was everywhere and that song was always being played. Then he just sort of faded away. Try Lionel Ritchie and his song “Oh No”.

If you enjoy this kind of beautiful music you might want to check out "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers live 1965 as it is indeed a beautiful song and one that is usually regarded as one of, if not the best live performances ever.
