Pop through a light drizzle of rain and hop over fjords tarn speckled hills; A Humpback Whale fishes through the silver waters it's surrounded by blue anvils of ice delicate light filters through woolen clouds and etches out details of the burgs; Disco Ball ice sits like slush on the surface of freezing cold waters; as they carve through the Blue Raspberry Slurpee waters; with your camera to your eye and your jaw to the floor .... I bow to the hyperbole king 🙏. Great video, beautiful scenery, dam beautiful👍👍😎❤

Brendan, I just wanted to say that KZbin has not been pushing your videos to my feeds at all. I had wondered if you were still making videos and to my surprise, I'd missed months of content! I love your vlogs and would be sad if you decided to stop or slow down making them, but as a photographer who tends to vlog for various channels too, I also understand the pressure and the balance between the two. Slowing one can help prioritize the other - and finding that balance within yourself is ever-changing and I always respect however that plays out. I wish for you the balance you seek, whenever and however it comes to be. Also, as fellow coffee roaster, I'm in awe of how much your business(es) have grown in the last couple years! I remember when you moved to Portugal and just got that gig started. Time sure flies.
@BrendanvanSon27 күн бұрын
You roast?! Where are you at?
@davidsargentphotography26 күн бұрын
@ Michigan’s Upper Peninsula - Dead River Coffee in Marquette. Cozy cafe, but I roast and manage wholesale. Your assessment of roasting being similar to photography is spot on. Learning all those technical things that affect the flavor profile of coffee is similar to learning the fundamentals of photography that eventually lead to one making thoughtful artwork. Same vein and probably why I enjoy it so much.

I learned my lesson long ago. The 100-400 takes up a lot of room in my bag. It’s heavy, it makes hikes slower BUT I always bring it. I didn’t bring it once and I felt like I missed out on so much. Now I can’t live without it. I’d bring it over a 16-35 on most non-Astro trips
@BrendanvanSon22 күн бұрын
Yeah, such a great lens. I don't know why I thought I'd prefer my 70-200 🤣
@louisburley159722 күн бұрын
@ it happens! I don’t own a 70-200 but I assume the 70-200 is worlds sharper. I just carry a 24-105 F4 and a 100-400. Occasionally I’ll bring my 14mm GM but I only use that for Astro/ if the scene is really calling for a super wide.

Western Greenland is an amazing place; only the west coast of the Ross Sea perhaps tops it.

I was at Illulisat this July and the boat trip to the icebergs was probably the best thing I have ever done in my life. Probably more exciting than the Grand Canyon. I also took lots of photos which I love to look at and I've made a book about my trip to Greenland. the icebergs and glaciers are insanely beautiful and I loved the randomness of the towns and small villages which are perched on bits of rock. How do people live there or make a living?

10:04 And here I am struglin' to enter "cold" portuguese ocean... 15:00 10ft wide? I dunno what that is in meters, but if it's big, go for it ahah Deserves it On another note, after your last video, I have to say that even if you are not that happy with doing this, this more documental videos are quite funny and good.
@BrendanvanSonАй бұрын
Glad you liked this. And, yes, the ocean here in Portugal is cold. I don't go in that either haha.
