Episode synopsis:
From Imilchil we take the N12 which goes north, then we turn left towards the small village of Anergui.
From this point, Google maps is no longer useful, because the Assif Melloul gorge is, according to him, not passable by vehicle.
We discover to what extent our Insta360 camera screwed onto its selfie stick is a perfect weapon to defend against dog attacks.
The 35 kilometers of track pass under our tires and we are really happy to have taken this incredible track.
Suddenly, we come out of the gorge and we start to see a mountain in the distance that looks pretty crazy. We find a picnic spot which at first glance looks very rotten but which ultimately will have a lot of charm on the banks of the Assif Ahansal.
Assif is a Berber word which means the river, the river. Imsfrane Cathedral is also called Rock Cathedral or Mastfrane Cathedral. It peaks at an altitude of 1872 meters and is 600 meters long. In short, a perfect view for a lunch stop. On the road again!
We continue our route by taking the R302 which zig zags around the Cathedral and which offers us breathtaking views.
We drive to Zaouia Ahansal following a magnificent valley (Vallée De L'Ahansal).
We arrive in the Aït Bouguemez valley, the valley of happy people. The villages we pass through are built of adobe and the red earth of the buildings contrasts greatly with the green areas of this fertile valley.
This part of Morocco is truly a gem and we are happy to have chosen to make tons of detours through the High Atlas instead of staying on a national road.
Ouzoud Falls are spectacular! They are more than 110m high spread over 3 levels all in an ultra scenic setting.
This Ouzoud waterfall is clearly magnificent, but we are sad to see that once again, mass tourism is deteriorating nature by increasingly eating away at the land around the waterfalls. The site may well be protected, but construction continues and the macaques are increasingly losing their place to live.
We didn't know it yet, but these 165 kilometers that separate us from Marrakech will be among the most difficult kilometers of our entire motorcycle trip.
The closer you get to the center, the more you feel like you're in an oven. We are drenched in sweat inside our suits, the heat burns our faces and Falkor almost collapses at every moment. We squeeze our buttocks while observing the thermometer which showed a record 52 and a half degrees!
