Here as a bulgarian! I was really young when this story took place, but thought I'd share. My family and I were visiting the Seven Rila Lakes and it was a rather sunny day, so there were a lot of other people. I remember seeing a group of people dressed in all white and enquiring about it. I was told they were here to celebrate, as a sort of tradition. Really peaked my curiosity as a child, seeing them gather in such a beautiful place and dance together was really inspiring, if I could say so. Child me lived with the impression of them being this sort of club, lmao. This just awoke some old memories i burried, great video. Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, keep making quality content and have a nice day!

This is missing a ton of why Heaven's Gate is so interesting, specifically the fact that the whole "shedding your earthly vehicle" thing wasn't part of it for most of it. That only came into it after Bonnie (who was the far more prototypical cult leader, a lot more manipulative and charismatic than Applegate) died of cancer. Since she and Applegate were supposed to be aliens brought to Earth, this kinda ruined everything they'd been saying about being higher forms of life, since she died of a kinda prototypically human illness. That's when Applegate went full drink the koolaid, because it was the only way that Nettles' death wouldn't ruin the message. Also interesting to note that he went with everyone else, and the trigger wasn't any kind of public threat like in Jonestown. He just waited til the comet was coming back around and followed Nettles to her death. Weird, weird group - very worth time looking into them.

I think that was established around 2015 ish. Real Christians sure as hell don't claim them. Mormons and Jehovas Witnesses both aren't really seen as a part of the whole, but we at least understand they do actually study Jesus. There's absolutely nothing about scientology that has t do with Abrahamic religions. I was raised Baptist in America, but despite what some peachers and preists say, most Christians will call all the others parts of the whole. Russian Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox, Catholic, all the other prodistants, even the snake church people we think are crazy but we do ID them as being Christian. I personally don't believe that Christ gets you to heaven, and I personally deem ethical non-extreme Islam and Judism to be part of th family, only for Jews to be the grandfather's of the Gentiles (christians) and to the Muslims. And I'm almost certain any well adjusted individual from any abrahamic faith will agree that scientology and Westboro baptists and nation of Islam is absolute crazy shit.
@MysticMorigan199810 күн бұрын
I also like to back up with saying that these faiths do allow you to walk away rom the place of worship if you feel like they aren't teaching it right. Because you don't go to Temple or Church or Mosque because you feel deeply that it's wrong, you shouldn't be shunned. Frowned upon? Sure. But to be excommunicated is the red flag of it being a cult. "True" religions will want you back into the circle unless you commit acts they deem too harsh to return. But you're always incouraged to try and get them back.
@MysticMorigan199810 күн бұрын
The holy texts are ready to be accessed and read and intpreted by us. Going to place of worship is good if the worshiping is good, but you can easily be lead astray.

Snake handling wasn’t an isolated thing within one church. Though not common, it wasn’t unheard of for backwoods Pentecostal churches in Appalachia and the Deep South to partake in it. I grew up Pentecostal, and my great grandmother had lots of stories.

What's really crazy about the snake handlers is that the US doesn't really have many super venomous snakes, coral snakes and that's about it. They used rattlesnakes, so that means they got bit and just chilled about it until the venom killed them.

Peak brainwash, pretty sure the Bible even said something about not expecting god to just save you because of faith.
@Vang200913 күн бұрын
@@insaneyogurt4993 so in the Bible, Yes God will save you for faith but that doesn’t mean you got an actual shield around you, the saving part is the salvation not worldly protection. Also the wounds are self inflicted and God ain’t going to stop your free will.

A lot of these types of bites are to the hard or face . And they don’t just use local snakes . A woman here in Oklahoma died from a cobra bite at one of these churches .
