The Word “Baptize”: Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text. Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage? Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Water and Spirit baptism are two parts of the one baptism that saves us. Our repentance is completed by being water baptized. During water baptism in, the name of Jesus Christ,and because of the shed blood of Christ, the Holy Spirit remits our sins by circumcumcising our conscience, removing the guilt from past sins, and returning it to the original sensitivity to sin we had as children. This is the " washing of regeneration"( Tius 3:5) The Word regeneration defined means to return something to its' original state. This is the type of the old covenants cleansing of the temple with water and blood in preparation for the Spirit of God to inhabit it. The temple for us as believers is our bodies. In Hebrews the writer speaks of the blood of bulls , under the old covenant, as being insufficient when it came to removing consciousness of sin. Consciousness of sin is guilt. It takes the shed blood of Christ during water baptism to remove guilt which remission of sins is. The name of Jesus Christ called over the baptismal candidate is vital because, being part of the bride of Christ, when his name is called over it we take on His name in the same manner as when I bride is asked if she agrees to take John Jones as her lawfully wedded husband and she says yes. Her family name is now Jones.

There are at least three separate passages that say "when you were immersed", x, y, and z happened. They don't say "when you believed". Rom 6 Col 2 Gal 3 Acts 22:16 "be immersed and have your sins washed away". The allusion to water is not an accident. Sure, it needs to be done in faith and the act itself does nothing, but action without faith is exactly what the Pharisees were doing, dead works (Heb 6) Works without faith = dead works Faith without works = dead faith (James 2) They always go together. I suspect that immersion is the sign of the New Covenant. There is always a cost and a sign or representation of the Covenant. With Noah, it was the rainbow. With Abraham and Moses, it was circumcision. What are the cost and sign of the New Covenant? If a man wasn't circumcised, he was not a part of the Mosaic Covenant no matter what their mouth said. Is immersion into the name of Jesus the sign of the New Covenant? Is this why EVERY time someone in the NT believes the Good News of the Kingdom, they are immediately baptized? In the Mosaic Covenant, if a Gentile wanted to become part of God's people, the men would be circumcised and washed in clean water, a Mikveh (or river or pool), and when they emerged, they were in every respect an Israelite. The rabbis had a term for this, "born again". Nicodemus knew exactly what Jesus was referring to when he said "born of water" in John 3. This is something we do not read in the NT. "Can I be immersed now?" "Chill out, Dude, we'll do it next week".

@@Azyo62 Acts 22:16 "Get up, be immersed and have your sins washed away calling on his name." Peter compares baptism to Noah's flood. In that case, the earth was fully immersed. Baptism is more than a symbol; it remits our sins. Peter told the crowd in Acts 2 to be baptized in the name of Jesus FOR the remission of sins. Therefore, our sins are not remitted if we've not been baptized in His name. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:5 that a man can't enter God's kingdom unless he's born of the water and the spirit. He loves us and wants to spend eternity in heaven with us. We need to be sorry to God for what the Bible says is sin. Only once we realize we're lost can we be saved by trusting and the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Giving such a correct statement as baptism being the "death, burial, and resurrection" of Jesus, should automatically promote baptism in the "name" of Jesus. It could be in no other name than the singular name of our Lord. Father, son, and Spirit are not singular.
@candorite2 жыл бұрын
Jesus Himself in the Great Commission told us, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" in Matt 28:19, as Pastor Rick quoted. Why would we do it any other way?
@approvedofGod2 жыл бұрын
@@candorite Why? Because it is wrong. You cannot use one single verse of scripture and make a doctrine out of it! The bible must be interpreted by using scripture with scripture. You interpret scripture with other similar verses, so that you will not make a mistake. Using Matthew 28:19 alone has caused many to baptize wrongly.
@candorite2 жыл бұрын
Why must Matt 28:19 it be discarded or reinterpreted? Incidentally even the Greek ὄνομα there, name, is singular, not plural. Based on your comments apparently either you don't understand the theology of the Trinity or don't agree with it. I believe God will be pleased by a baptism "in Jesus' name" or 'the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.' I don't think he would be pleased by arguments to toss out clear Bible verses. Jesus is not jealous (nor envious) of honor to the Father or the Spirit. He himself said, "I and the Father are one."
@approvedofGod2 жыл бұрын
@@candorite Melvin, you are ignoring what I said about rightly dividing the word of truth. You cannot use one verse of scripture to form a doctrine. It is wrong, and you will always teach contrary to the word. You can ignore what I am saying to save face, but remember it is God we are to please, not men.
@candorite2 жыл бұрын
@@approvedofGod No I am not worried about 'saving face' with you. Of course I agree that the Bible should be interpreted in context and using other relevant verses. You have yet to mention what context or what verses require your interpretation. I suspect either you have no further explanation beyond 'I am right and you are wrong' or you are just trolling and don't even care. Not very persuasive here.

Commanded by Christ 2. Great Commission Matt 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” II. Church age: 1. The first recorded Gospel Sermon: Acts 2:37-38 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 2. The Samaritans conversion. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. III. Individual conversions 1 . Simons Conversion Acts 8:13 Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed. 2. . The conversion of the Eunich Acts 8:36, 38-39 And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 3. Paul's Conversion Acts 9:18 And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; Recount of his conversion Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ 4. Cornelius Converted Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days. 5. Lydia Converted Acts 16:15 And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us. IV. Other Churches 1. The Corinthians Acts 18:8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized. 2. At Ephesus Acts 19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 3. Paul recounts this conversion. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name. Acts 22:16 ASV V. Baptism explained in Epistles: 1. Puts us in Christ Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 2. Burried with Him. Romans 6: 3-4 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 3. Saves us I Peter 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 4. All put into one body. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 5. Washes us in the word. that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 6. Born of water physically then Spiritually John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. & Titus 3:5- he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Correct Amen. Baptism is that we are repenting from our sins by knowing the Truth, JESUS CHRIST and the Love of the Father through His Son Jesus Christ by knowing the Word Of God.Then it comes on the Baptism of The Holy Spirit Which is very important in our lives as the promise of God Almighty Abba Father. For Kids and children I believe they are not matured enough to know the reality and seriousness of sin so how its possible to make them repent for their sins by their own self by taking the decision for the baptism because Jesus never said go and Baptise the children or kids or never red in the Word the Baptism of Children, Because it took me almost 33 years to understand the seriousness of the sins even so many times I have to struggle and fight hard against the temptations from this world but by the Grace of Jesus Christ I don't lose this battle He makes ne overcome. Hallelujah. Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. So this is not just an act of flesh but its all about our new birth, new inner man and woman from their spirits. The old died with Christ and the new person resurrected from His death with the Christ and lives for Jesus and in Jesus. This is the fight against the Satan and sin which every believer has to fight. No one is perfect and anyone can fall in to the temptation and can commit the sin but thing is there is forgiveness in Christ Jesus if we repent and be careful for the next time and mostly people win this battle against the sin and Satan through Christ Jesus Who strengthens us in our journey. Hallelujah. Amen. Every one is free to take their decisions I am not here to criticize or to judge others just tried to share what I understand as a believer. God bless you brother exceedingly abundantly in every area of your life in Jesus Precious Name Amen.

@anthonymorris2856 , says who? Acts 9:19-21 So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus. [20] Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. [21] Then all who heard were amazed, and said, "Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?" Saul was baptized, but the people found out about his conversion to Christ through his preaching, not his baptism. Baptism's purpose to them was not a public confession of faith. That proposed purpose for baptism didn't exist when the Bible was being written, as reflected by the fact that there's no mention of it. It's completely a modern-day church driven idea, repeated so much that it seems valid, but only because it's repeated so much. Since the source of baptism as a public profession of faith is not the Bible, where did you get it from?

When most people think of baptism they think of water. Whether it be immersion, sprinkled, splashed, or sprayed, they think water has something to do with it. Did you know the Bible teaches it is possible to be baptized without getting wet? Consider John the Baptist. That he baptized with water is clear (John 1:31; Mark 1:5). Everyone John baptized got wet. However, in Matthew 3:11 the only man to be called Baptist in the Bible identifies two other baptisms that do not include water. “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:” - Matthew 3:11 The Holy Ghost is spiritual and so is not made of water, and I’m pretty sure the baptism with fire would evaporate any moisture left on anyone who participates in that fiery furnace (Isa 4:4: Mal 3:2). Then there is the baptism of the nation Israel unto Moses in 1 Corinthians 10:2. They walked across the sea on dry ground and the Egyptians who were dunked in the water drowned. After Jesus was baptized with water by John, he spoke of another baptism for himself which would end in his death. The only water involved in the death of Jesus was that which flowed out of him (John 19:34). “But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!” - Luke 12:50 Many Baptisms: Some Dry, Some Wet There are many different baptisms in the Bible and most of them are dry. Baptism has become synonymous with water baptism, but baptism does not mean water. A better definition would be how someone is identified with something. This is why Paul describes a baptism into the body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12:13. Everyone who is saved by the gospel of Christ today is identified with the Lord in his second baptism unto death. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” - 1 Corinthians 12:13 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” - Romans 6:3 Baptism into Christ is identification with Christ. We become crucified with Christ without ever touching water (Gal 2:20). Baptism with water never symbolized death, but cleansing, as in the remission of sins (Mark 1:4). In the present dispensation of grace, our sins are forgiven through the blood of Christ through his death. There is only one baptism Paul says is necessary in the church, and it does not include water or a priest to perform it. It is performed by the operation of God when we believe the gospel of the death and resurrection of Christ (Eph 4:5). “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” - Col 2:12 If you think baptism must always include water, then you are a little wet behind the ears. Baptism does not require water, there are many examples in the Bible, and the one baptism you need does not require a single drop.

Jesus said to the man on the cross next to him "today you will be with me in paradise". (Luke Chapter 23 Verse 43). Had this man been water baptized??? Water baptism happens because someone has been saved. Water baptism doesn't save. The recent coronation happened because Charles is now the King. The coronation didn't make Charles the King. Charles became the King when his mother - Queen Elizabeth the Second - died. A coronation for William or George would be nonsense as neither of them are King. Charles would still have been the King if he had died after his mother but before his coronation. He would not have been the King if he had died before his mother.

@@antoniordasilva3177 Hey, well I’m asking because some people baptize and only say “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” and they never actually say a name. But Acts 2:38 gives a name. That name is Jesus, Jesus Christ. The name Jesus must be said in baptism because that is how a person is saved, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved Romans 10:13. And the Apostle Paul was baptized and Ananias command Paul to call upon the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. So Matthew 28:19 talks about the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost and Jesus commanded his disciples to baptize people in that name. And Acts 2:38 was that actually being fulfilled and we see that the name is Jesus Christ. That is the name that saves. Saying “Father, Son, Holy Ghost” is not saying any name. The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus, Jesus Christ. Jesus got his name from his Father. Hebrews 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” The name Jesus must be said during baptism so a person’s sins can be washed away. Baptism saves. Acts 2:38 says it’s for the remission of sins. Remission means forgiveness. I was baptized when I was a young child and the man who did it was actually my great grandfather but he only said “Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”, he never actually said the name that saves which is Jesus. So when I was 18, I heard the gospel and realized by the grace of God that I needed to be baptized correctly. I hope this makes sense. It’s contrary to what is taught in a lot of denominations, but it is the truth.

It is an appeal to God for a good conscience (meaning the receiving of the Holy Spirit) While belief in Christ is mandatory, if you believe in Christ as your master, then what He stated baptism is for, is what it is for. No scripture says baptism is a symbol, identification, representation, illustration, or the like. The language of Rom 6 and Col 2:11,12 is that baptism causes you to "participate" in Christ's burial and resurrection - if you read these passages literally. The language of these and other passages is that in baptism, "something happens" in you. In other words, a miracle happens in baptism. The reason for this is that you are "baptized into Christ" as Paul says in Rom 6:3. Without explaining what this phrase means (probably assuming everyone already knows), he goes on to apply it to what happens to you because of it. When you read everything that happens to you because of this "baptism into Christ" you will see that everything that happened to Christ beginning with his death, happens, or is applied, to you. So his death, resurrection, and ascension is applied to you. In particular, in his resurrection, you share in his new life and receive a new life yourself - another term for this is "regeneration."

Pastor Rick , yes I get it you covered the definition of Baptism very well O.K.? But you left out some things ! According acts 2 38 , 22 16 step 1 is BELIEF in Christ as the Son of GOD who died for our sins, step 2 is REPENTANCE meaning you will not continue to practice sin and is required BEFORE being baptized or you just got wet! ! Then after truly repenting , you may be baptized ( which is an act of obediance ) to recieve forgiveness of your sins AND the gift of the Holy Spirit being "Born Again" The bible requires all 3 to be saved, DO NOT be decieved that "faith only" saves you !

You say "we prefer the old way" but yet don't bother to say whether you think just the sprinkling kind is valid or not.

I was also Baptized in Jesus's name. My mom was baptized in the name of Jesus's name in India. Do not ever baptize in Father Son and Holy Spirit. use the name JESUS. AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS? I came out of the water as light as a feather, my mom was healed, my cuisine was delivered from alcohol, and 100 examples I can give you. Never deny the name of Jesus. When I pray, I let them know " I am going to pray in Jesus's name and Lord Jesus will heal you". Because there are so many so-called gods and goddesses in this world. Baptist is a commandment not an advertisement. It is not a public show ritual. It is what a person does to be saved. No audience required. Here is water. What doth hinder me. No audience. At the prison. Souls wanted to be saved. They were baptized within the hour.

Jesus was not dedicated as a baby, Read Luke 2:22. This was according to the Law of Moses. Leviticus 12:6-8. If we are to do dedications according the how Jesus was dedicated was also need to follow the Law in Leviticus 12:6-8

Listen to this very carefully! The first part is correct, the second part is false. Baptism put a person into Christ and his church!
@brendanjobe68952 жыл бұрын
I did. Even the first part is not correct. Baptism is not a public declaration of anything, and the NT never states such a thing. Review the conversion of the eunuch in Acts 8 and find the "public". Also, he said, "Baptism does not save you" knowing full well that I Pet 3: 20-21 says the exact opposite. IDK what's wrong with the man.

Only disciples are candidates for baptism. Believe is not enough. You need to count the cost and see if you can be Christlike and fisher's of men.

Hi sister the Bible shows otherwise Acts 8 26-39 is the story of the eunuch where he is reading from prophet Isaiah and Phillip asks him if he understands what he is reading. he says no, after Phillip explains it, the eunuch asks who the prophet Isaiah was talking about. phillip tells him the good news of Jesus and he believed, simply by believing he asks Phillip to be baptized at a body of water they happen to ride by Phillip agrees and baptized him (this shows us believing is enough)

Here is a question for you. By what authority do you baptize? It surely is not that authority that John had, or what the apostles had. None of your baptisms are done with that authority.

Is water baptism for the Church the Body of Christ? What did OUR (!) apostle Paul say about baptism in this dispensation of Grace? 1. Corinthians 1 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; 15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1. Corinthians 12 13 for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Ephesians 4 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Do you know what the Ministry of reconciliation means? It takes two for the process of reconciliation. God made the first step: He reconciled himself to the world. He would never reconcile himself to sin. So what did He do? Christ paid the price for the sins of the whole world. That was the necessary atonement, directly followed by God forgiving the world all trespasses. Today, sin is not imputed to anyone, ALL sin was put on Christ, buried with him. When Christ rose again, all sin stayed in his grave and is not ever to be re-imputed to anyone in this dispensation of Grace. That's our good news of today the Gospel of our salvation: the work was finished on the cross, once and for all. Now sin is put out of the way between God and man. Hallelujah 🙏🙏🙏 Now it's your turn: be ye reconciled to God. Believe that all your sins were forgiven by God when Christ paid the price for every single sin. This is salvation today: believe, your sins were completely forgiven on the cross when you were His enemy,as the sins of the whole world were paid and forgiven there. Believing that, trusting in Christ alone is what saves you today. In this very moment, Christ's righteousness is imputed in your account, by His spirit you are baptized into Christ, sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption, eternal life and all spiritual blessings are yours, you are a new creature, a member of the church, the Body of Christ, your Destination is heavenly places. Paul, our only apostle,did not say one single word in all his 13 epistles how to get your sins forgiven. Because salvation is to believe they already are. This is our ministry, Ambassadors for Christ, ministers of reconciliation. Share the good news that God has forgiven all the worlds sin and is not imputing them, today is the day of salvation! Check out also "truthtime Radio", it is very edifying ❤️ Grace and peace 🙏❤️

Thank you for the teaching. Please, help me understand your opinion about the ‘NICENE-CONSTANTINOPOLE CREED’ where it states near the end: “ I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. “ What is your conviction on this statement? Full statement here: I believe in One God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all worlds; Light of Light, Very God of Very God; Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And the third day He arose again, according to the Scriptures; And ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; And He shall come again with glory to judge the quick and the dead, Whose Kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets; And I believe in One Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

@SpotterVideo, So just ignore? Acts 8:36-39 Now as they went down the road, they came to some WATER. And the eunuch said, "See, here is WATER. What hinders me from being baptized?" [37] Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." [38] So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the WATER, and he baptized him. [39] Now when they came up out of the WATER, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 10:47-48 "Can anyone forbid WATER, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" [48] And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. This passage establishes that baptism in Jesus's name is in water. So baptism in Acts 2:38-39, Matthew 28:19 & it's counterpart Mark 16:16 are in water. 1 Corinthians 1:13 & Acts 18:8 then are in water. Acts 8:16 is in water. Acts 19:2-5 is in water. And Acts 22:16 is in water. Since this baptism in water is in the great commission, then there is strong weight that whenever the apostles and company are baptizing people, it's in water, which makes baptism in Jesus's name in water viable in Ephesians 4:4-5. But don't do a "comprehensive" New Testament study on baptism, just leave out "all" the post resurrection passages that speak of baptism in water, and thereby make it look like only "Spirit" baptism existed back then. This is a common practice.

@@Rejoran How many millions of people have been baptized in water, that were never baptized by the Holy Spirit? Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, The process above should occur before water baptism for those who are truly "born again" of the Spirit of God. Otherwise, they have only taken a bath. This is what Peter described in Acts chapter 11.

@@SpotterVideo, you said the most important thing about the word baptize in the Testament has nothing to do with water. You also said "Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word baptize in the text." Then you base your baptism position on Jeremiah 31:34, John 14:26, Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27, none of which mention baptism, some just address the Holy Spirit, to your climactic conclusion that the baptism in Ephesians 4 refers to baptism of the Holy Spirit. In my rebuttal I established that it is justified since baptism in water is part of the great commission along with a plethora of examples, that when Christians see the word baptized in the text, in most cases it does refer to water, unless stated otherwise, also making it a viable baptism for Ephesians 4. I addressed your statements, and now you're changing the goal post. Now you're bringing up a new point about the timing of baptism with the Holy Spirit, and you're also saying baptism with the Holy Spirit means someone is saved. Your initial statements were shown to be not true, or at least very far from conclusive. First either acknowledge that or respond as to why you do not accept my rebuttal, and then I will answer your second round of questions.

@@Rejoran The word "water" is not in the text below. You have made that assumption. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. I will go with Peter's explanation of what Jesus actually said below. Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. I will also go with what John the Baptist said below, as recorded by Luke. Luk 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: The same concept is found below in Mark's Gospel. Mar_1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. John the Baptist was baptizing people in water before Christ died at Calvary. How many people were saved by John's baptism in water? He knew the difference between what he was doing, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost Christ would accomplish. Your Bible says the same thing.

Past sins are only cleansed once a person by faith submits and completes a baptism in water for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38. Go back and re-study just baptism. One is not a Christian prior to being baptized. Sins must be cleansed before one is a new child of God. The blood of Christ touches each new obedient believer through the faith act of baptism. Colossians 2:11-12. It’s very simple pastor that is unless if your afraid to teach the truth possibly losing members of your congregation.
