I have been diamond polishing and benching molds for over 30 years now I see so many different techniques People are using today. I usually polish, lettering molds. They are very difficult to bench out the EDM scale out of you have to be careful not to create grooves in the inner sections as you are removing EDM scale. I cut my stones very tiny and use a little groove in them to help hold them on my lapping rod sometime I use my hand instead of my profiler for lapping because there are such small areas that I am flattening out with my stone The profiler moves to violently to hold the stone I also use a series of ceramic Stones we call super stone. We can cut them in very thin profiles to get in to very small areas. People always ask me how you make the mold so shiny and I tell them the polishing part is the easiest it’s the benching and removing of cutter marks and EDM scale.
