I met Guy while he was filming for DD&D here in Salt Lake City. My friend's restaurant was right next door to my shop, where I fixed cell phones. He happened to have a broken phone, so my friend told him to come to me, and he came right up to me after finishing taping and shook my hand, and patted my belly! He said "Man, I'd be 50 pounds heavier if I worked next door to this guy!" He couldn't have been nicer. As someone who had never watched any of his stuff, I was a fan at that point.

I think Anthony thought Guy was a bad chef (if not in his personal cooking skills, at the very least in what was put out by his kitchen, which is ofc indeed what it means for a chef to be good) and didn't respect him. He thought he was a celebrity chef whose actual restaurants were bad and a poor value, kind of a step above Salt Bae. And he's very passionate about food and gets very excited about things like that in terms of his expectations for fellow chefs. I like Guy a lot, both all his shows and apparently as a person (from what I see and speculate; I have never even met him), and don't understand a lot of these other people's weird objections and hate. But I don't think we need to theorize that Tony hated his joy or whatever, that that's the only possible explanation for his mysterious contempt, when the surface explanation makes perfect sense.

I met him when I was in high school - at a Prostart Culinary event. We had to prep all of his ingredients for him to do a demonstration. He yelled at me asking why his own knives weren’t on the table for him. His assistant had to remind him they were in his trailer. He then demanded me to go get his knives and never apologized. Came here to say the same thing. Sure they aren't 5* burgers, but they were pretty good considering the price of the 2 trips I took that had his food on them. So much free advertising to people likely to travel more often and getting them into his restaurants/giftshop. He'll never be Gordon Ramsay, but he never tried to be. Living in Windsor, CA in the area where Guy Fieri is from, I always found it strange that there’s people who hate him. He had many of his restaurants here in Sonoma County. Before the Food Network. Once he won that tv show, I actually met him because he would go to the schools to do free demos for the students. He actually inspired me to pursue a culinary career. He would donate his time and money to the community organizations, fire victims and fundraisers and I was volunteering years later at one of his events at a church. He gave me my first job at Johnny Garlics. He always maintained a friendship with the high school culinary teacher and came to the school class to show kids his demos and share his story. He even gifted last year a custom made knife to my culinary teacher upon her retirement. I honestly don’t know where my life would have gone if he didn’t inspire me to pursue cooking. Very friendly man, and always took the time to talk to kids.

His entire crew was great too, Fieri deserves no hate hes a legit high level chef thats not pretentious.
