I refuse to spend over $30 for a disc from the manufacture. If we pay that amount, the manufactures move the mark and that becomes the norm. If we don't pay that amount, it sends a message to manufactures that we aren't willing to pay that much. Disc golf is a cheaper sport than ball golf. If they continue to raise prices like they have been, they will continue raising the barrier for entry which creates stagnate growth.

@@fillei That's the thing though. That is the going rate in other countries. Here in the US, no other standard disc is over $30. With many manufactures, you can get any disc in premium plastic for $20. You can't compare the prices in another country to say that the price is normal in the US. Trilogy prices have been on a steady increase since they were bought out. I used to use mainly DD and Lat 64, because for the money, I didn't think anyone offered as nice of a disc. They also offered free shipping over $25 and a points system that basically gave you money back on orders. The free shipping amount went up to $75, Disc prices skyrocketed. I used to buy base plastic Wardens for $11 on the site. Now they are $16. Premium plastic is anywhere from $22-30. I've been buying MVP. Pretty much any premium disc I want for less than $20. The only exceptions are signature discs, but there are typically non signature versions available, the only difference is the stamp.

One thing to factor in to disc pricing is that molds are CRAZY expensive to machine/manufacture. So the sales of a given disc have to offset the cost of making the mold. The reality is a KT Grace will sell WAYYYY more than the General just simply because the Grace is a crazy popular disc that is suitable for a range of arm speeds. The General on the other hand…. Beef. It’s not going to sell in similar quantities because it’s too beefy. So they have to build the lower sales projections into the price of the disc to make sure it pays for itself (and hopefully eeks out some profit too).

6:04 - this is why I hated DD and Latitude as a guy who threw mostly Innova - while their plastic felt good, their flight ratings were so off, and flew nothing like what the Innova numbers would. Westside is even worse. That also made my switch to Lone Star a little challenging, because most of Lone Star's drivers are much more overstable than their flight ratings. I think companies should crowd source their flight ratings by sending out prototypes to a sample of players who are to compare it to discs they already own, and then you can vote on it. It's probably only hurting dynamic that people pick up their discs and they fly much flippier than they should.

@@josiahmhowardit’s pretty much a 12 speed. They just didn’t want to release a disc with the same numbers as a force

Infinite might be $2 cheaper, but I’d rather pay $2 more and get it quicker from 1010….. infinite is notoriously slow to ship stuff

Price point is high becuse of same reason Calvins Destroyers are more expensive than stock Halo Destroyers ;)

I guess but Calvin's destroyers are 22.99 on Innova's site. a $10 difference is a LOT

@@BodanzaDiscGolf yeah in US, look outside US, in Sweden for example the Calvin Destroyer is much more expensive than the General.

Simon is much more like Shaq. Ricky is the obvious Lebron comparison, long successful career, perennial contender, last remaining of the old guard.
