So sorry to comment again….I wouldn’t say it’s “a man’s home” because I think it is amazing and so cool. The fire out of the cannon was so rad!! You are definitely a big kid and it’s refreshing to see someone with so much enthusiasm and love for life. I’m not sure of your children’s ages, but they must love hanging with dad no matter what their ages are. I never leave one of your videos feeling anything other than happiness. Treasures! … well I should say! We too have a collection of well loved and worn little doodads we bathe our Christmas tree and house in … even a small non-functioning little antique toy train. Gives Christmas such a warm glow and beautiful interest. So different from seeing people coming out of a Dollar store with plastic ornaments they will most likely discard every year. Inadvertently by cherishing these old well used treasures we are recycling, it’s recycling at its best. Good on you and we’re on exactly the same wagon train. I saw a great idea a few years back. Not exactly my cup of tea, no pun intended, but still quite imaginative. An older woman I know, even older than me, hung all of her old and dainty collection of tea cups as ornaments on her tree. It was quite beautiful and a useful way to glorify them if only for a month or so. Well, I best get ornamenting, you’ve gotten me in the mood! I think it’s great to celebrate the beauty of your tree as long as you can … especially yours … no needles and no water besides. ☺

I loved this video! Visiting with folks who are older than us shines the light on a world we didn't know. We always feel like our own generation lived the simple life, but then we talk with a grandparent and find out the simple life was even simpler in their time. I'm so thankful minimalism, vanlife, tiny house/cabins, function over fortune have all become a thing for many people. I"m definitely on that bandwagon in my own way and I look forward to retirement in 4 years so that I can quit trading my life for money. I do really enjoy my job, but I can feel that the desire to have my day available to do whatever I want is building. Just found your channel and am so glad I did. Best wishes to you!

Very cool "tree" and cannons. Carbide lamps attached to helmets were the standard light source for miners from like the 1920s until electric batteries were sufficiently miniaturized for use in such an application.

Love the concept! I bring in from my front yard my aluminum windmill, that I had powder coated red and black years ago. And string it with tons of mini lights. And hang all my ornaments on it. It works out great and saves me the high cost of buying a cut tree that's half dead before you even get it home! Thanks for sharing; have a wonderful old fashioned holiday as well.

Ah ha Jerry- I would call that an "antique collector's" carpenter's 🎄 Christmas tree :-) A fitting celebration for all the hard work you have put into your cabin. I'm all about using reclaimed materials to build. Your ingenuity has rewarded you with a fine, affordable home, whose walls are steeped in the history of your area. We have three properties on our 350 acre farm, which includes the grand parent's original farm house and barns, built in the 1800s. It looks beautiful, but the wind blows through the foundations. It is only used in the summer by a cousin's family. Your place is solid and rustic. We built our home to be both on or off grid and fully intend to use electricity while it is affordable. I call our style of rural living HYBRID. Like Ohio, New Hampshire gets snow and loses power. Its a good feeling to be able to light the oil lamp and kitchen wood stove if need be, but I also like my Kitchen Aid food processor and stand mixer. If you have an email address I would be glad to send a few photos of our farm.

I love this Jerry !! I decorate our house with mostly Primitive items, so this would be wonderful. We collect antiques and Civil War antiques, my husband and sons are Civil War reenactors, so we have a lot. Great idea, I need to get started !! Thank you for posting and I love your videos.

Really cool Jerry , I think the tree will start a new trend. I love all the old antiques on it. The cannons were awesome ! Imagine how people would react to those today as gifts for our children ? I think there'd be law suites everywhere. Kids playing with cannons , how primitive we used to be.
