The Most Disliked Format On Vinyl - My Fantastic 10” Records

Pat, Great video as always. I have those 2 Cramps 10" records but also some early Rockabilly and Jazz stuff from the late 50's. The Smiths did their albums on10" vinyl also, I have those as well. The Fall also did a great 10" mini album called Slates in 1981. I'm sure that I have others but they are hard to find in the cubes as they hidden inbetween all the 12" records. Sueeze were a bit too English for many Americans - as in "give the dog a bone" haha.

10” records are probably my favorite format. I imagine taking all the good albums and condensing them down to five to eight songs, most would become great albums. Lots of cool tens Richie! I had a few you showed, but the one that caught my eye the most was the Blind Lemon Jefferson. There is also a reissue 78 of Blind Willie Johnson that I’ve always wanted. Cheers!!

Jon, the tune, '' Black Snake Moan'' has an interesting history. In 1926, Victoria Spivey wrote and recorded, ''Black Snake Blues''. Also in 1926, Blind Lemon recorded, ''That Black Snake Moan''. In 1927, Jefferson re-recorded the tune and it was released with the title, '' Black Snake Moan''. In 1967, the king of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier recorded his variation of the black snake ''metaphor'', '' Black Snake Blues''. It's the title track of his Arhoolie album, and the song is a Desert Island disc for me!

I don't know why people dislike 10" records, but I like anything in a weird package. And you are right, they fit everywhere....even the box set of 9-10" records that I have from The Dear Hunter fits just fine on my shelves. Yeah, if you had forgotten to mention yourself on that mountain of cool VC members, I would have mentioned it myself. Still not sure who that Mazzy person is. You got a lot of cool 10" records just like I figured you would. Love that Super Black Market Clash...I have the 12" (the non-"super" one) and used to have the same thing on a 10" from the original label. Great video, love the unique packaging on some of those.

Being a SoCal guy, I was hoping to see the Tokyos 10". Red vinyl, came in a clear plastic bag with a rising sun type sticker on the front. Came out in '79, and was the first punk 10" I ever bought. Didn't know anything about the band, but it looked cool. Never got around to picking up the Dickies white 10" until way later, but that's probably the first punk 10".

It's true, size matters...🛑 Yeah, I like 12" records over 10". At the same time, 10" vinyl can be fun. My most disliked vinyl format? It's Picture disc's, plus they have those horrendous PCV sleeve's which is a real kick in the gut.

Cool shirt!! I only have I think three 10 inches, the first wreckless Eric record, and then two garage revival ones, a makers one and a drags one, both on estrus. That Del Vets one looks cool! Just got there 45 I call my baby STP today. That Dickies 10 inch is super cool! it looks up my alley! I saw mazzy at that trendy Seattle record store with the restaurant in it a few weeks ago. I was trying to figure out where I had herd the name savage republic, I think someone for Afrika Korps was in that band

Why disliked? That’s actually my most liked format, i have quite a collection of 10’’ vinyl eps and they fit my Ikea Ivar cabinets perfectly! Favourite ones: several BBC radio sessions comps with tracks for instance by PJ Harvey, lots of 90’s alt rock/ grunge eps (Truly, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth), recent indie stuff (Sebadoh, Lou Barlow, Kidbug), even some classic Iggy Pop eps, great stuff!

Nice PiL and Clash. I only have some 10” which I inherited from my wife’s dad when he passed that nobody wanted. Keep them for sentimental reasons. They fit in my record cubes just fine. Cheers.

Looked into my collection & realized i have one 10". Ivy - "edge of the ocean" (2000) single which i got as a lame birthday gift from my "ex-boss" at Nettwerk Records & Management. We managed Ivy's career. I worked in Public Relations & helped get that song in a Cruise ship commercial for a year. Got them $80 g's ($20 g for each member) LOL

I love 10" records but they are so hard to find in my area. Most of the ones I get from mailorder. Is that Dickies on white vinyl? I remember trying to get a copy when it first came out but they where always badly warped so I never found a copy that was playable. Thanks for showing some cool 10"ers.

Twenty years ago, some random UK label released two weird, experimental electronic tracks me and my buddy produced on 10" vinyl. I thought the 10" format was pretty cool, I'd never seen it before. They massively fucked up the cover artwork though, lol.
