During my clinical placement during my PSW program I helped a lot with bed baths at this rehabilitation hospital. I was helping one person that had a serious case of constipation, over 8-9 days, which needs dealt with for some seniors since their gut muscles are weak and cant help so they need suppositories. This person had just been given another suppository shortly before I and my lead went to give them a bed bath. well as they were on their side and I was cleaning up their rear Everything started moving... ALL of it... My lead and I needed to take turns stepping outside the room for a breath of air and some vix vapo rub in our nostrils to detract us from the smell. The key though was to stay professional, it was a needed and frankly expected outcome that really helped and clean up, when seen as an act of kindness to that person over an otherwise vile situation makes it easier to handle it ❤
