Watching the game, the Isles lost it long before that 9 seconds. The collapse was a long time coming as the Hurricanes were dominating play almost the entire 2/3 period. You could feel it coming.

exactly, not really a choke. they were getting crushed, should have been worse than 5 - 3. the game looked like a 40 minute long power play for Carolina.

It may have been a choke, but the reslity is the hurricsnes dominated every aspect of this game. Islanders were lucky to be up 3-0. They had 1 shot the last 35 minutes. Also. 20 minutes of o-zone possesion for the csnes. Isles cant shoot the puck when they never had the puck😅💪🏻💥

That's the point, Isles had no business being up. Only Anderson's goaltending made that possible. It really wasn't a choke. it was inevitable because the Canes are that good and added the most at the deadline.Yet this guy hates the Isles because of the Horvat trade and the Dobson for Miller rumors that Isles fans laughed at during the last draft.

As a Canes fan, I would not count the Isles out. The goals they got were not cheap. Each was a highlight moment and showed the talent of the team. The Canes just shut them down in the 2 & 3. When you spend that amount of time in the O-zone, goal will be scored. If Isles can get a lead and shut down the Cane's offense, which can happen, they'll get a win or two. Canes are still winning the series. Can the Isles show they are building for the future and this post-season appearance is not a fluke?

@@MOTU_CTR Well, Isles fans recognize # "91" as Butchie Goring, a key to the four consecutive cups. The real "JT" is Jon Tonelli, who helped the Pens choke away that late 2-goal lead in the final 5th game of the 1982 Patrick Division semis. Then sealed the win in OT. Could have scored the huge upset and stopped the greatest dynasty in its tracks! Almost the same way the Isles would upset the Pens 11 years later, Right down to the late blown two-goal lead but in reverse as Pittsburgh was going for a three-peat. Had they succeeded they'd have been the fourth straight dynasty in the NHL. Oh so close. Funny thing though, I was hoping that the Pens would grab that last spot to try to avenge the Trouba cheap shot from two years ago that cost the Pens the series but you guys spit the bit against Boston. That's your problem. Oh, the delicious irony of a Pens fan talking about a guy who never sniffed a cup for either team he's played for. Obviously, Taveras is your favorite player. But how much do you charge the islanders for domiciling in your shriveled mind?👀🤔🙃😅😅🤡👏👏👏👏👏👏

Not sure it constitutes a "choke" when the better team won. The Hurricanes are clearly the better team. They can dominate when they want and need to.

This game teaches us a very important lesson for all of us in the world of hockey in that multi-goal leads are more likely to evaporate when the teams holding them register very few shots on goal.

This is what would have happened to my red wings had they made it to playoffs. They would either go down 3 to 0 in 1st (granite the could comeback they seem to love playing from behind)or wings go up by 4 or 5 and the other team comes back and win.

Both teams had less than 30 regulation wins. Could have seen this coming. Not so coincidentally, the Islanders barely make the playoffs as the 8 seed if the NHL used a 3 point system. The fact that they’re a 6 is a joke.

If the NHL had a 3 point system, the Islanders might not have made the playoffs at all. The winner of their final game vs Pittsburgh would have been the 8 seed, loser is out. A team with less than 30 regulation wins shouldn’t even be in the playoffs, let alone a 6 seed. You’re seeing exactly why now.
