A great list to start off with. I might have included a sheet of black velvet or portable magnifying glass (in addition to the loupe) in my recommendations, but that's just me.

Hiya guys, awesome video, I tell people this all the time.....get a jewelers loupe when your starting out to become a Rockhound, so you can identify your stones. Because you can see things that you can't see with the necked eye. That's the best advice I can give to anyone who wants to look at gemstones.

This is a great start! Thank you! I'm in NC so there is an abundance of gemstones to hunt. Question: How do you remove shist from garnets? I've been doing it by hand with jewelry tools, but my.hands are killing me! Thanks again!

I think a multimeter is a good one to have, just a small portable one. It can help with mineral identification.... But more so for a rockhound, but gemologist could too.

Thank you. Can you talk about spectroscope and how to know the diffrent spectrums for the different Gems. Is there any relatable source that one can use as a reference ?

Could you do one covering the history of gems? Like when they were discovered and what their old names were?

Tell me how to check to see if my stone is an alexandrite
@lmwarw9Ай бұрын
Alexandrite is by far my favorite gemstone! Such a BEAUTIFUL STONE!!! But to answer your question, It should look green in bright lighting and IDEALLY red in incandescent lighting, though most look more purple, and under an LED light it will likely be blue with purple reflects. Under UV lighting it should have a strong red fluorescence. It should never have rainbow "fire" like you would see in a white diamond or in any color CZ.

Hi I really like this content and I want to subscribe to this channel, but I'm finding the music to be very distracting in all of the videos. It's not that the music is bad music, whoever is making it is a good musician, nice upbeat vibes. I like it, just not for these kinds of videos. Removing the music would make this content more accessible to myself, neurodivergent, and otherwise more sensory sensitive people. Which tbh I think thats a lot of people who are into rocks and minerals. Thanks!
