I just played Vanquish Soul for this, I’ve never had so much fun playing Heavy Borger.

Vanquish Soul is the best for this, especially if you grab all the weird Dark+Fire+Earth anti-burn cards that can be used for reveals. Even if opponent is playing a normal deck, you have the decent VS engine available. The only thing I found it loses to is 2+ chainable burn spells (since most of the anti burn cards require the damage to resolve) or a regular constructed deck going first.

Favorite moment of this event for me was playing Trickstar against someone playing actual Dragonlink who used Verte to bring out Dragoon too. I normal summoned Lilybell, they activated Branded Regained to fill their last monster slot turning off Borrelend, and I just attacked directly for game.

I played Swordsoul because of how hilarious Longyuan Burn is for an event like this. And of course most of the hand traps I ran were for anti-burn options, with Golden Swordsoul acting as an deterrent to direct attack shenanigans.

I had 80% winrate with Vanquish Soul spiked with all the Fire/Earth/Dark Burn Meta cards like Eco, Firecracker, Leonidas. The deck is even able to play a decent normal game of Yugioh if needed with Razen and Valius pop setup.

this event is so funny with pure D/D/D. you can FTK with 3 shots of King Tell while getting to main Leonidas and other defensive handtraps. and if that doesn't work you just end on King d'Arc and your opponent can't win ever :)

Nah bro, you can make a really nice deck with just N and R rarity cards, and barely need anything. You could make Leonidas if you want, but I didn't and still had to of fun and wins. We're just burning and anti-burning back and forth.

been running the same idea but with less of the gimmicky stuff. and also just all in on the gimmick with little respect for my opponent's stuff when they get to go frist 3x droll & lock bird (practically nobody respects it here, so it's _very_ easy to pull off. and in fact, I'll usually go for it over trickstar lycoris burn nonsense, when I can. since it basically autowins the game, even if you don't kill) 3x trickstar lycoris (the star of the show) 3x trickstar candina (the starter of the show) 1x card destruction (hand fixer and ftk enabler) 3x magical mallet (filler hand fixer since there's no good draw card for here I could find that wasn't a -1 or otherwise had some sort of a bad detriment to it, like into the void possibly pitching the droll or chicken game needing me to get light stage access) 1x pot of desires (-9, but games are hardly lasting more than 2 turns anyways, so who cares) 3x triple tactics talent (I still get handtrapped a decent amount, so this is in as a solid punish. draw 2 is usually the go to, but if I'm confident enough already, I'll scout the hand for any further problem cards to hopefully get rid of) 3x trickstar light stage (-200? -200) 3x chain energy (tax yourself now) 3x dark room of nightmare (-200? -300) 1x reload (filler in for the same reasons as magical mallet) 3x disturbance strategy (wincon enabler trap #1) 3x the gift of greed (wincon (soft) enabler trap #2) 3x side effects? (wincon (soft) enabler trap #3+lp regen to try and get ahead of my opponent if they're able to survive or otherwise have enough cards to be able to burn me for game before my stuff resolves) 3x present card (wincon enabler trap #4. would ditch 2 copies for the remaining trickstar reincarnations if I could) 1x trickstar reincarnation (wincon enabler trap #5. also random fun fact: I beelined towards making this deck for the event with the intention of running triple trickstar reincarnation... before getting forcibly reminded in the deck builder that the new list isn't live yet)

This is such a stupidly fun event. there's no good reason for it to be as fun as it is, but it just is. Probably should've banned Rebel King Leonidas in particular though. all the other cards are fine, but he's a bit much

Leonidas is probably the best anti burn card (though it still loses to burn-in-response). But I think the dynamic of the burn and anti burn cards (including Leonidas) is what makes this event so interesting, so I would want as many anti burn cards legal as possible. I’d rather see a burn card restrict so the braindead mono ookazi-like decks have to think more.
