THE MOST EXHAUSTING NIGHT EVER (13 Hours of Moving My Pets)

Setting up all the land animals were a piece of cake, but all the tanks on the other hand....
I ruined the floors in my house thanks to my RO/DI unit for my aquarium being left running for too long... so I had to move all of my pets out of my room so we could fix the floors. my body felt like jelly after, ONLY TO FIND OUT I DID IT FOR NO REASON. I guess it's a blessing in disguise, because now I can design my room exactly how I want and bring the 150 gallon in here without a struggle.
I have celiac disease and I ate gluten by accident (something u dont wanna do if u have celiac) thus causing my face to turn red and break out. I am only a lil human pls do not judge.

As a dog trainer I have seen a lot of people who have no legit medical need for a service dog trying to pass their pet off as such. Most of the time these fake service dogs are poorly trained and just give real service dogs a bad name. Because of this I can see why some people as so quick to get defensive about the issue, HOWEVER, nobody has a right to say a word about your dog. The need for a service dog is between you and your Dr., whether or not your dog is ready to be called a service dog is between you and your trainer. Everyone else needs to mind their own business. Ignore the negative people and good luck with your service dog, she's super cute :)

Do you know how a SD is suppose to be? The dog shouldn't even be considered for service dog until they get it stable, confident, nonreactive, etc. I can say that the dog will most likely wash out. Most shelter dogs can't get over their fears, no matter how much socialization or training is done.

Hoping For The Day I disagree, I've personally known and worked with several shelter dogs who have gone on to excel as service dogs. My training mentor finishes service dogs and a large percentage of them are shelter dogs. Altogether I've seen like a minute of footage of the dog, I don't think that's enough for anyone to assess if she will ultimately wash out as a service dog.

OurLittleHomestead Yes, but very little shelter dogs actually make the cut. Most wash out because they can't get over something. Shelter dogs aren't the best pick for a new service dog handler, especially a scared, reactive, and nervy. Sometimes no amount of training and socialization will help dogs get over stuff.

Hoping For The Day Sure, she may be more challenging to train and therefore isn't the best choice for a service dog newbie, but that doesn't mean it can't be done or that she'll be guaranteed to washout. Also Taylor isn't asking for advice on choosing a Service Dog, she's already chosen her dog and is in the training process so there's no point in being discouraging. plus even if she does wash out, so what? She'll still have a great home and Taylor will gain valuable training experience for her next SD, so it's win-win either way.

I think slowly but steady all these animals are becoming her obsession. She have so many of them already and soon even more in 150 gallon tank. I know, she have this "Anxiety" and is afraid of almost everything in the outside world. Fight with it Taylor. You should confront your demons not run away from them. Enlist to the army or navy. It will not be easy but if you survive this experience will toughen you. Because now you complain how cleaning your room is tough and hard etc.

oldi184 I know you're trying to be helpful, but the military has a very long history of causing mental illness, not treating it. Also, that scare-quotes "Anxiety" thing is actually pretty ignorant and dismissive sounding. Maybe that wasn't your intention, but it really comes across that way. She's taking excellent care of her animals, creating videos, and training a dog to help with both her physical and mental health issues. Trust me, that's all a clear sign that she is fighting against her anxiety instead of letting it take over.

Taylor...love watching your videos. As an experienced reefer though, I have to warn you. A reef tank as large as the one you plan for your bedroom, will be five times the work of your small bio cube and ten times the stress. Especially if you want to keep serious corals (the SPS bug might bite). You might want to seriously consider reducing some of your animal workload if you want to keep it successfully. If you get serious with marine (aquarium monitor, sensors, email alerts, webcam feed) etc. it won't ever let you stop thinking about it. It can become quite stressful if not planned and executed carefully. Think seriously about the plan of the tank - how will you (if you do) do water changes? Lugging buckets for a tank that big is not an option. Will your skimmer have auto shut off? Will your skimmer have a plummed drain? Where will you put the quarantine tank(REQUIRED). Do you need a chiller? Does your quarantine tank need a chiller? Will the chiller heat up your room without proper exhaust? Will the tank evaporation make the room extremely humid? Will you have an auto top-up system? Where will you store the auto top-up water? Do not under estimate the financial commitment to do marine properly. I started because I had an old freshwater tank and thought I could 'just drill it' and do marine. Boy was I wrong...the tank is basically free, compared to the -required- items to run a reef. We're talking thousands of dollars, at a minimum, for a semi non-crude setup. I'm sure you've thought of this, just think of it again!

my sister has always had dobermans. They are sensetive, intuitive, and very loving...they just have the bad wraps that make them great protection...all they have to do is stand there doi g nothing and people assume they are scary. My sisters house was near a facility for the elderly and people with disabilities. Every day while the patients would be out getting fresh air in their wheelchairs and swings my sister would walk, "Bogie" her first down through the facility. he broght tears of joy to many, many patients...they would wait for him every day and he would get down low for rubbies, and even jump up to patients in special needs swings. They loved him.:)

Do you know anything about service dogs? Reactive and nervy dogs will not make a good service dog. No matter how much training and socialization is done. Putting the poor dog through SD training is not ethical at this point. They need to work on making her a stable pet.
