I agree totally with you Lui. Use what you like, not what "you should use". If you can afford a $500 bottle of anything, then using it in a cocktail is the same thing as me using a $50 bottle in cocktails. The "wasting of money" is relative to how much money you have.

I think that last bit of this video is the most important. If you spent your money on it, do whatever you want with it. It's yours, drink it however makes *you* happy. Too often, people say there is a right way or a wrong way to enjoy something. But the reality is, the only right way to enjoy something is doing it the way that makes you happy even if someone else doesn't enjoy it that specific way.

Can't wait to try this cocktail this weekend with a Tequila Ocho Anejo I was able to get my hands on! I've also tried Tequila Ocho Blanco in my margaritas and it's my favorite one I've made so far. It gives it a solid agave/smoky flavor. Thanks for the vid!

For cocktails do you prefer blancos or anejos? I find that if it's sippable, the age doesn't matter. Just looking for your opinion. Thanks!!
@Lui_Fern
@Lui_Fern Жыл бұрын
Depends on the cocktail friend. Depends oh the style, the other ingredients. You can make great cocktails with any spirit and any expression, as long as they're quality. In a fruiter cocktail with brighter fruits I'd go Blanco, but if there are some good earthy or deeper elements like a Banana Margarita I'd opt for a repo. In a Tequila old Fashioned or like a stirred tequila cocktail then it can be a still strength or an añejo. It all just depends on what cocktails you are trying to make. Every tool for the right job.

What do you think of Cimarron & Arette anejos ?
@ennuigamer
@ennuigamer Жыл бұрын
This is a good lesson in diminishing returns. Things *generally* get better with higher quality (price) ingredients...but usually only up to a point. Then you're putting in more money and getting less back for it. I personally find that those three figure bottles are more about nuance and a specific flavor profile you like best. "It's 5x the price but is it really 5x better?" You have to find your own sweet spot! I'm not here to wag my finger at you -- you paid for it, so you enjoy it how you please!

Thanks as always Lui. For a Tequila old-fashioned, the compromise that I do is to use a Gran Dovejo Anejo (about $50). Otherwise for almost all other cocktails, I use either Cimarron or Altos Olmeco or Tapatio. I wish I could get G4 (for sipping) - out of stock in my market for over a year. BTW - does an expensive tequila make a difference in a Paloma or a Dead man's handle?
@Lui_Fern
@Lui_Fern Жыл бұрын
Happy you enjoyed the video! And thats a hard question to answer, in a paloma it might get drowned out by the flavor UNLESS it was an expensive lets say still strength (example: Fortaleza or Cazcanes) then i think it could be truly enhanced by it. So it all depends.

@@Lui_Fern , I appreciate all you do. If the "I still film alone" was addressing my comment, you could put a label (labeled 1,2,3 or A,B,C) under the glass, make the drinks, put on a lazy Susan, lightly spin and close eyes, and begin tasting. I know... too much work. Just a thought.😁
