Thank you Yemisi. Your channel and recipes really helped me the past several years. When I got married in 2005....I knew nothing about Nigerian cooking. My Nigerian husband had to adjust to his Canadian wife's cooking. But since 2016, you have been partner in helping me learn. I shall ever be grateful for your channel. God bless you real good.

Most alluring dish! 👍 Eja osan (42 pieces) is a requirement for Ijebu brides. It might not be a Yoruba wide tradition. Some groups take goats instead.

In Bayelsa this fish is called Aba, during the rainy season it's quite rampard. It's a rich and tasty fish very good with Banga soup

In my family we collect 42 pieces of Eja osun, but my mum always reduce it to 22 pieces on the 3 occasions her girls had their engagement, she said because its very expensive fish. This is my 1st time of seeing the fresh type. Merry Christmas to you and the family.

So yummy! Seafood okro- on my mind😜 as a Yoruba lady, 42 pieces of eja osan are requested as part of the bride price. The mere mention of this fish took me down memory lane to my wedding. Funny enough, before my wedding, I had never heard of eja osan. I actually called it orange fish😂😂

I have a question about this Ejan osan. Is it the same as Asa fish? I bought roasted “asa” fish and cooked with it but it seems strange. The fish I bought has a kpomo like texture in a part of it. I need to know if it’s really fish or something else because my mind is thinking the worst.
