They're not really overpriced, at least not all products. Notice how they don't sell you exactly the same products as normal stores do. They just pick the most expensive variants to sell. For example, while a normal store will sell you a normal potato, Erewhon will sell you Bonnottes de Noirmoutier. [Just a made up example, don't know what kind of potatoes they're selling] If you're a professional chef then this difference often matters a lot, depending on the dish and who you're cooking for. I do agree that most people do not need to, and probably shouldn't, regularly buy from them though.

It is ridiculous. If you live near one, it is fun way to kill a little time. The premise is good, gotta give them credit, sorry I didn't think of it myself. And I made the same mistake when Starbucks was looking for franchise owners. I was dubious that people will pay $5 for a cup of coffee. Wrong again. That won't happen again. @@Megadextrious I don't know if this will help much, but the Banquet brand sells $1 pot pies, and they're pretty filling for a lunch or dinner. They aren't the greatest food in the world, but it's well balanced and tastes good enough, and it's a comfort food. Cutting down on grocery costs can be really hard, but if you don't mind stocking up on cheap frozen dinners (like the pot pies), cans of fruits and veggies (they're usually inexpensive), and off-brand products (forget Oreos, go back to Hydrox!), then you can make do with less money. I'm not in your position, but even I'm trying to cut down on grocery costs just because this inflation is artificially induced and it is getting ridiculous. These big corporations do not need to be stealing that much money away from us. Anyway, I wish you luck in finding a new job. It must feel awful to have lost your previous one, but this presents a good opportunity for you to hopefully find something that pays better and treats you more fairly. We could ALL do with better. And if it takes you a while to find a new job, don't be afraid to hit up your local church or soup kitchen. Good luck :)

I also heard about this store and wanted to see for myself. So glad I was able to visit this store before seeing this video. Yes their brand items are higher priced but they also have other food brands that are about the same as other store chains. There were plenty of items that the middle class citizen could afford but I was very curious about those smoothies. The only reason I didn’t get one was because there was a 15 minute wait.

I don’t go there, but I make more than enough to go there, and I just love that y’all can’t afford it so you take offense to it. You’re clearly not the demographic so who gives a fuck what your poor ass thinks? It’s even funnier if you hate this business because you’re a republican, I thought y’all supported capitalism and the free market?

Yes. If you get fresh food or the occasional healthy canned low salt food, etc. you can get LOTS of food for a reasonable price. The main challenge there is protein. And even there, things like eggs, chicken, some nuts and cheese, etc. can be had reasonably IF you consume that in moderation. Oh, and that sort of thing is a HELL of a lot healthier and cheaper than eating out, especially at fast food places.

In 1975 Cadillac came out with their first smaller car, the Seville. It was the most expensive car in the line, more than the Eldorado convertible or Fleetwood Brougham let alone the mass-market DeVilles. They very carefully priced it at the top of the line because they feared the perception it would be seen as a "junior" Caddy. Pricing for position is nothing new.

When he says that the high prices are due to ingredients, he isn't lying. Also.... I did notice that a good amount of the products, you just can't find anywhere else/very few places. So, there's a clear premium for that exclusivity. There's nothing wrong with the business model. If you can only do one item, for the experience, so be it. Nobody is asking you to buy caviar there (although, likely, it's a brand that you can only find there/few other places). That's the luxury life.
