mooring buoys on the Mississippi River are reserved for Commercial cargo operations and is generally .55 USD per GRT per day, not to include linemen, tugs, or pilots. The average port call is around 165,000 USD for a 4-5-day turnaround. The cost for garbage removal is 600 usd for up to 3 cubic meters and 185usd for each additional cubic meter plus the cost of a launch about another 1,200 USD

When I win the lotto and buy my yacht I plan to simply keep it anchored about half a mile offshore here in Monterey Bay (California). I'll save a lot by not buying very much fuel and my friends and people I see on a daily basis will just take the tender to the yacht, have a nice lunch or dinner, fish, sunbathe, scuba dive, and enjoy life. The Monterey Bay area is as nice as any other spot. It's nice enough to live here.

@Brisdad53 Imagine a life without fantasies. A couple of dollars a week is a small price to pay for the joy of anticipation. Remember when you were a kid and Christmas (or your birthday) was coming and the excitement of possibly getting a special something. Or maybe a friend just lost his job or suddenly had a house burn down . . . and you were suddenly able to help him/her out. You won the lotto and now you just call your lawyer and ask him to see how you can anonymously help your friend. The pleasures of anticipation are many.

@highkicker115 жыл бұрын
Its the fact that the camera mic is not picking up the sound waves because the mic is not pointed at the source of the sound. Also its picking up other sound as well. If Tristan would set up a hand held radio on the same chanel as he is using and record its separately with a cable going from the radio jack out to the recorder you would hear what he hears. There is just to much interference on the radio and between the speaker and the camera to get it.
@garethchild5 жыл бұрын
Three things: first, as highkicker11 said the camera mic is not getting the full range of sound; second, when you use a marine radio a lot you get used to it; third, you know what words you are expecting to hear and that makes a difference.

First, let me say I enjoy these videos and I think the crew of AWOL are doing a fantastic job. But I want to address a misunderstanding that exists, at least in the US, that all yacht owners are 1 percenters. One thing for folks to understand is AWOL is not like most yachts. As a super-yacht, she is in the same class as cruise ships - commercial ships that carry hotels as their cargo. She is small enough that she feels like a personal yacht (which is her appeal to clients) but she has more in common with the Queen Mary 2 than owner-operator yachts like the one I own or the Hattaras owned by the folks that publish the Trying Not to Sink youtube channel. I only mention this because folks think all yachts are like AWOL, and it clearly isn't the case.

Actually, the base fee for the summer is $135,000 plus expenses. Expenses, when chartering in Western Europe, can go up to 50% of the base fee. Tip is normally 20% to 25%. Extra taxes such as VAT and local taxes are also very high. Basic rule of thumb for chartering in Western Europe, as on the French and Italian Riviera’s, is to double the base fee and, of course, assuming it is not during special events such as the Monaco Grand Prix. Chartering in Eastern Europe, such as Croatia, is much less expensive.
