The Most Expensive VW GOLF GTI I've EVER Seen!

Finally got to drive the MK7 Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40. Definitely a lot more special than your average GTI. This particular car was a crazy spec too.

Great vid, you summed up the difference between gti and r perfectly. Ive had both, the gti was more alive and fun to drive, keeping you plugged in on tight twisty roads. The r is more planted, and the grip is outstanding. Yet it feels sanitised, like the car doesnt trust the driver. Imo the clubsport is the true range topper, being everthing a fast golf should be.

Yeah its really strange! I mean if they fully stopped doing them in the MK7 maybe it would make sense, but the fact they decided to offer it on the Clubsport just shows they just did the R wrong

Basically bro just buy a type r do a conversion kit from type r to gti and throw a bigger turbo from apr on it no internal engine work and you have a golf that looks like a gti but has 400bhp

You can also turn traction off when launching (launchcontrol active). You wont get wheelhop then, just a bit more spin.

simple question: would you have this MK7 GTI Clubsport or MK7.5 GTI Performance with all the new tech? That's my dilemma. Does the Clubsport feels faster than the GTI? Since it has the IS38 turbo lacks the low down torque of GTi in normal street driving I guess?

Great car. the problem with the club sport was the price was too close to the R and the R has much better traction in the wet with the all wheel drive. I drive a mark 7 golf R what a brilliant car i have never got fed up with it,

I would personally still choose a gold r over the gti due to the awd, power, and leather seats, and digital gauge cluster. Even then I would still do a bunch of bolt ons and tune, etc. The thing is the golf r here in the US doesn't have a sunroof/panaranic roof, but the gti does. That triggers me so much!!!

After watching this, is it me as i owned a mk5 GTI, it doesnt seem quick in the middle gears... kind of docile... or maybe im used to my e93 M3, GTi's still nice car thou.. i say this as i use to rag my Mrk5 GTi (manual) and the pickup alone was impressive, i could make wheel spin between 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd, maybe traction control is on... i didnt even have all the aids like they do now... fun cars GTi's
