Metal gear solid 1-4 introduced a lot of amazing dialogues that are impressive and equally scary as it projects the present reality we live in today.

The thing I love about this conversation is that draws parallels with George Orwell's 1984

As I'm writing this, I will be proud to get the Big Boss rank in MGS2, only Rays and Solidus left but man, if the Sniping section wasn't a chore to get through...

That’s awesome! Congrats! That’s no easy task by any means. No alerts and no kills is a tough one in this game thanks to that camera angle

kojima and tomokazu fukushima had to have built a time machine, went forward in time, observed and wrote down what they saw and then implemented it in this masterpiece. there's no other way he and tomokazu fukushima knew what was to come.

It’s pretty wild to consider how old this game is, yet how accurate it would turn out to be. The same game that has a bisexual vampire that runs on water, Solid Snake being well informed for the only time in the series and a blonde effeminate main character that gets his crotch grabbed by the President also has the most accurate prediction of the future.

@@FOXZERO237it's probably a case of history repeating itself. Or our governments playing the same trick over and over again. Remember Kojima was born during the Vietnam war, probably has a vivid memory of the Cold War, Yugoslavia, Kuwait, 80's Iran-Iraq. This game was released two weeks after 9/11 and became relevant then.

There I am, an 11 year old kid watching my dad pay for MGS2 for me at a Software Etc, thinking it was gonna be a game like one of my favorite games at the time, Syphon Filter. Then I’m sitting in my 5th grade class, an 11 year old having an existential crisis due to this game.
@FOXZERO237 Жыл бұрын
Ah, dude. Syphon Filter. I played The Omega Strain so much as a kid. I wish I had internet back then to do the co-op tasks for the missions. I still remember a mission in Kiev always gave me a hard time on that one.

I would argue that there is a more famous speech in this series. When I think of metal gear I think of " why are we here just to suffer?" Or Armstrong's " we're making the mother of all omelettes Jack"

I don't speak Putin but I assume it's a bunch of aggressive commentary. I feel like some people might be confusing the word fame with significance. Fame means that it's known about by the most amount of people. Obviously there are other speeches in other games that are known about more than this one, but I think the two I listed are known about by more people than this just within the franchise. I'm not saying that they're better or anything, but more famous... definitely.

My reading comprehension of Russian is not as good as my speaking, unfortunately. Had to do some translating. Somewhat aggressive, yes. I do still agree with him

I haven't listened to that whole speech since I first played the game in back in like 02 but holy crap was it a completely accurate prediction of our future. This is one of the reasons I consider Kojima one of only two or 3 auteurs in gaming. The others being Sam Lake and maybe Neil Druckmann. I know auteur is a film word but we need one for game directors. Maybe gauteur?

I don’t know, man, “Game Director” works just fine to me.

Neil druckmam is a fraud. It's ironic that you like kojima and druckman as they both had shadow writers that they try to erase from history.
