Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. I play each case with a different assistant detective, so it's a new experience every time 😁 Of course, I can't do that anymore because of reasons that are obvious, so I'm planning on doing the last 4 cases alone. Hmm...
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
Mostly Harmless Ive heard good things about that game but i haven’t heard a lot about it! It seems like solo mode wouldn’t be nearly as fun but I could be wrong! how does it compare?
@mostlyharmless39654 жыл бұрын
@UCOdxc1jVeQxsqoraUwoH1EQ I'll tell you once I cross that bridge! It's mostly just solving a mystery, the cases are well-written so I think it would be fun solo, but the fun of discussing the suspects with a partner would be absent. The family and I have mostly been playing Everdell too 😁
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
Heck yeah! What do you think of Everdell?? I've heard so much about it.
@mostlyharmless39654 жыл бұрын
@@BeingFriends It's terrific! The entire family loves it. The solo mode is also really good, there's a lot of great tension and strategy. The art is also fantastic. Can't sing my praises about it enough!

My husband and I talked about starting a board game collection for months and the quarantine finally kicked the idea into gear. I got Robinson Crusoe and Spirit Island per your recommendation and We are hooked!!! Keep bringing more great videos
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
Aw that's so awesome to hear! You don't know how happy that makes me!! First of all.. fantastic choices. I wanna hear everything you think about those games! They are so great right?? And are you thinking about getting any more games? which ones?
@luanamendes47674 жыл бұрын
Being Friends yeah I love Robinson Crusoe, but it is hard!!! I really like spirit island but it does require a lot of brain power to play the best card combo. I am learning how to just go with it. As for new games, wingspan is on my radar but we are still undecided. Thought about the Robinson Crusoe mystery tales expansion but there’s not a lot of info out there and it just seems like a completely new game, idk the theme is off place imo. Also we are getting Parks! as soon as it is back in stock.

So good to see the love for Netrunner. I gotta say, Viticulture scales incredibly well. My wife and I have played Viticulture at two more than any other player count and we love every minute of it.
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
Netrunner is absolutely legendary. I love it so much and I'm so happy I have it. Oh cool! I enjoy Viticulture, and I would like to play it more! I'm glad to hear you enjoy it at 2 players as much as you do! Do you play with the Tuscany expansion?
@namelessfire4 жыл бұрын
Being Friends Base Viticulture is a high 9 for me. Viticulture plus Tuscany is a solid 10. You will never want to go back to base Viticulture.

Fantastic video Evan! I agree with 7 wonders duel for sure
@mostlyharmless39654 жыл бұрын
How does duel compare to the original 7 Wonders? I'd love to buy Duel but my game store only has the original. Not really the time to be picky, I realize!
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
So essentially, Duel was designed in response to the community feeling fairly dissatisfied with original 7 wonders at 2 players! They invented a new drafting system that creates a ton of interesting interactions, and tension, as well as implemented a lot of fantastic mechanics that could only work at 2 Players. I haven't actually played the original, but if you're looking for a good two player game, Duel is the way to go!

Twilight Struggle is one of the first games I played after quarantine started. I live w/ my brother and we both had to start working from home, so we played an asynchronous match on our phones in between work meetings.

Love it! Yeah it’s a fantastic game. I’d love to play it more, I just don’t have a lot of people in my life who have the time/desire for super long games!! 😓
@testoftetris4 жыл бұрын
@@BeingFriends yeah, I'm in a similar position. I don't think I'd ever have time to play the physical board game, but the digital version helps streamline a lot of the calculations so the game can move more quickly. I hope this doesn't seem weird, but if you're interested I could DM you to set up a game through the app one day!

Jaipur is also a fun quick 2 player game. Sometimes luck of the draw will doom you but it’s so quick with different strategies to use it never feels unfair... well unless it’s just really really horrible luck
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
that’s absolutely true. It’s a good game but for sure sometimes one player just gets so many rubies and wins 😂

I just picked up ROAM and I love it. It's easy to learn. It's a fun strategy game that involves placing markers in particular patterns and collecting cards for points. The artwork is fantastic, with beautifully illustrated tarot-sized cards. I played it as a 2-player game with someone who is not into board games and they liked it. (There is also a pretty good solo variant on BGG which I have personally expanded on and so I love playing it solo too!). I think this would be a fun game to play with any Mom, especially if they enjoy an imaginary theme with interesting characters.

As for games that are 2 player only, for me it would be: Blue Moon, Dinosaur Table Battles, BattleLore Second Edition, Manoeuvre, Carcassonne the Castle.
@diamondmeeple4 жыл бұрын
Check out DVONN and Tintas. Few rules, short play time, genius gameplay. Two really smooth 2-player abstracts. My favourite 2-player is Carcassonne with no river/expansions. Amazing game when you add the skill of remembering what tiles are left. Adds a higher level to the game. I also love Carcassonne The Castle, 2-player standalone by Knizia. But uses a houserule to raise the skill reward. The best modern abstract is TZAAR. I also really like Blokus Duo with a houserule. Ingenious by Knizia is really good, the same is his card game Battle Line. I want to address also the block wargame masterpiece: Sekigahara - The Unification of Japan. Wish I get to test two very promising games for 2-players soon: Mandala (2019) and Miyabi.

How exactly is keyforged balanced and fun if it is randomly generated? How are there synergies working in this?
@BeingFriends3 жыл бұрын
So 'random' is the wrong word! It's procedurally generated with some sort of program, and the decks for the most part all feel unique, interesting, and like theres something to discover about how to pilot it! There are tons of synergies in most decks, many of which are surprising and completely fresh! Granted, there are some decks that are trash and there are some that are wayy too good, but in my experience, for the most part, every deck is fun to try and most are pretty balanced! More often than not, when a deck seems underpowered, theres actually a different approach you could take thatd be much stronger, as you get to know the deck! Man its fun!

@@billable1861 To me Tokaido is a very leisurely game! It is fun, because it is relaxing! It's a good game to be playing sorta in the background while hanging out with friends! Great video, solid production value and gave me some good ideas. I recently started dating someone and we've been having a lot of stay-home dates. We've been loving Jaipur, Codenames Duet and 7 Wonders Duel. We're looking into getting a mystery/deduction style game. I've been eyeing Sherlock Holmes and Mysterium. Mansions of Madness looks incredible, but I believe it's 3+ recommended. Any suggestions?
@BeingFriends4 жыл бұрын
Awesome awesome!!! thanks so much:) And yes! All of those are fantastic 2 player games you mentioned. So that's a genre of game I have less experience with! I haven't played any of those you mentioned! But heres my thoughts. An interesting deduction game with a unique theme is Treasure Island! It's all about searching for the treasure whilst blackbeard leads the players there, but he isn't super honest so you really have to figure him out so you can find the treasure first!! If you're interested in the more hidden roles/social deduction/bluffing games, here are some of my favorites. One Night Ultimate Warewolf and Secret Hitler are both super super fun games. So much fun dialogue and mistrust and incredibly fun moments! and then just straight up bluffing; Cockroach Poker (check out our video on this one!!) and Sherriffs of Nottingham are great options! And then similar to Sherlock Holmes ( i think) are the EXIT games! They are essentially escape rooms in a box! Just some fun puzzles you can do with friends! All of those games work great at 3+ players too! Hope that helps!!

If you're still looking for a good 2-player abstract strategy game (with beautiful pieces), I can't recommend Santorini enough. It has the same "easy to learn, lifetime to master" kind of feel to it. Plus I feel it has much more variety than Hive and is far less likely to end in stalemates

I like it, have 8 decks and only one that is a dud. Entered a local small tournament and we had to use new decks and sadly... it was the dud.
