Permanent loss of emotions, anhedonia and sexual dysfunction and many others are far more terryfing. too bad they don't mention these in the leaflets and shrinks don't know about the reality of taking these drugs, so if you complain to them abiut these they just say "its your illness, not the drug"

I do sports now, make music, start a job. Have a life. Have energy again. One thing that helped me was Creatine. The other was Butyrate. And the third some DHA. And last but not least a Ketoegnic diet! There definitivly is a cure!

@@cuekinaja I quit them a while after making that comment bc of the side effects ngl. Never thought I would, but I did. Last night, hallucinated having everything I ever wanted.. I'm in such a dark place now, after quitting them. But if this delusion can sometimes give me everything I everwanted, rather than the delusion of being less than miserable on meds, maybe it isn't so bad after all.. idk... I'll probably end up back in the nut house very soon tbh... but wow it felt so good to pet my deceased cat and to hold my baby brothers again... I just wish it had been real and not a hallucination Maybe it's better if I never stop my meds again I'm so sad all the time now, worse than before. But I finally got to hold them all one more time. Even if it wasn't real. Even if I quit my good job and now make part time minimum wage. Even if I cry all the time and developed alcoholism since quitting my meds this year At least I got to hold them I'm not being sarcastic or funny or a dick. I'm just so conflicted and confused now. Like, what really is better? Being emotionless, or being miserable yet occasionally (even if it was a hallucination) getting to love the ones I love most one last time? Is a better job really worth never seeing their beautiful faces again? I'm not so sure anymore. Is it better to be easy to understand and empty, than to be difficult and sad yet at least true and real? No clue now I'm sure I'll go back on them soon. But god damn... it felt so good to be able to hold them one more time. It felt so fuckin real. Damn

I was prescribed 2mg of Abilify in addition to an anti-depressant. It did help me quite a bit but within a few weeks I started having facial twitches and shaky hands. I stopped taking it and within 3 days those issues resolved themselves completely. Bummer, as it actually worked for depression, but I was not willing to continue taking it due to concern about TD.

Well I have seriously considered it and would wish everything else would be tried before administration of antipsychotics, with appropriate periods to try them. I think antipsychotics need to also be a restricted substance, only antidepressants should be able to be prescribed as they seem safer aside from sexual dysfunction but I would gladly trade all cognitive impairment and the loss of mental ability, emotional depth, just everything I currently experience for just having sexual dysfunction as I never used that system anyway.

I'm on 700mg of Invega Trinza (two 350mg shots) every three months and 2.5mg of olanzapine every night. What are the chances that I will develop tardive dyskinesia? Ps. I've had a lot of acute EPS on Haldol 1mg, olanzapine 15mg and Invega Sustenna 100mg + clozapine 25mg.
@ShrinksInSneakers
@ShrinksInSneakers Жыл бұрын
This is beyond the scope of what I can answer here but the The cumulative incidence is about 4% to 5% annually; the prevalence rate is 20% to 30%. It's significantly lower in those taking second generation medications, and much lower in younger adults than older adults. Clozapine has virtually no risk. Schizophrenia itself is known to cause movement disorders in the absence of antipsychotic treatment which is a fact few are aware of
@kauebotsman2676
@kauebotsman2676 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm 27 and I started taking them a few years ago, so I guess the risk is low. When I took Invega Sustenna along with a really low dose of clozapine (25-50mg), I had a lot of akathisia and also acute dystonia of the neck. And also postural hypotension. Furthermore, when I took about 200-300mg of clozapine alone, I felt extremely sedated and had sialorrhea. So I guess clozapine is not a good drug for me.
@ShrinksInSneakers
@ShrinksInSneakers Жыл бұрын
@@kauebotsman2676 clozapine sialorrhea can be treated effectively. You can also follow blood levels which have a clearly defined range. There is virtually no risk for TD and EPS risk. I'm still a fan and sometime dosing it all at night helps with sedation.

But I used to take it all at night, and still was sleeping all day long. And the few hours I was awake, I actually felt like I was in sort of a dream-like state. Also, the weekly blood tests were kinda annoying. But I know it's a good drug for many people. Just didn't work well in my case

Hey, this is kind of off topic for this video but I have a question. I know that atypical antipsychotics are commonly used for augmentation with SSRIs, but is there a reason for this beyond the obvious "they both work as antidepressants, so using both is sometimes better than only using one". Do they work synergistically together or does it really just come down to what I wrote in the quotes. Sorry if this is too deep of a question for a youtube comment. It's okay if you can't answer this fully here. Thanks for the videos!
@ShrinksInSneakers
@ShrinksInSneakers 2 жыл бұрын
Many of the atypical medications have mechanism that result in antidepressant effects. For example abilify will increase dopamine levels and act as an agonist in low dopamine states at 5-10 mg/day. Seroquel will stimulate serotonin receptors at 150-300 mg doses, same goes for ziprasidone. So it's not the dopamine D2 blocking effects that help with depression it's these other minor mechanisms that can be leveraged for the antidepressant effects. Hope this makes some sense

lol, I like this it just hasn't been my experience that seeing a psychiatrist is scary or dangerous unless the goal is to create more stigma surrounding the evidence based treatment of mental health disorders. I was in a hell of a lot more fear when I was too manic and delusional to be able to ask a psychiatrist for help. After going to my psychiatrist and a mental hospital, I can finally live within reality again. I can eat, sleep, think, and heal now. I'm more afraid of the stigma attached to getting the necessary help for disorders like mine than I am of my doctor
